| No, this is not an American Civil War Loyalties Rant. This is, in fact, a slightly randomised and spontaneous Topic - and I do apologise if it's in the wrong place, but 'Smite Not the Newbie', and all that - to tell you all my 'Long Term Game Plan'. (No Pun Intended!) I'm a Deathwing Player. I strive to do the Emperor's Bidding, and uphold the Honour of the Lion. However, I've been hit by a bit of a 'bad streak'. Rambling aside, by Christmas Time, I want to have both Chaos Space Marines and Dark Eldar under way. Chaos, because I've always contemplated starting them, and I'm greatly impressed by the potential of the Battleforce - there's just so much in there that's either a Staple in a List, or is so much fun to Built, Paint and Look At - so it's something which has been on the cards for a while now. I must be clear, before I'm accused of leaping onto the Dark Eldar Release Bandwagon, that I've always wanted to play them. I came into the Game, and immediately I wanted a Dark Eldar Army. But wiser voices told me to steer clear, because they were FUBAR, and it wouldn't be too long before they were completely re-done. So I stayed away. And now is my time! I'm going to be good, and promise myself that I'll buy 1 Boxed Set, Build and Paint them fully and to a med-high tabletop standard, and then go for another 1 Boxed Set. It'll be the same with the Chaos, I'm going to open the Battleforce one Unit at a time, and promise myself not to even look at another until the first is done. So, you can look out in the Future for a number of Topics regarding these. I may even have a Death Squad for each. Head over to the P&M Section shortly for some details of how I'm planning to Paint them, and what I need help or advice on. That Topic should be up in the next 20 Minutes. Thanks everyone, Popsicle | |

| Sounds interesting.
We are awaiting...waiting and waiting for the Dark Eldar codex also as when it does is when the Dark Eldar will be tackled.
Other than that play some games see what squads you want to play. | |

| I love the idea of the Dark Eldar - I just wish they were more like the Fantasy Dark Elves (which are cool), rather than the horridness of the current range. A mix of the best bits of the dark elf, eldar, wood elf and high elf ranges would probably be better. But, I've heard rumours (we've all heard rumours!) of a total re-sculpt, which would be truly top notch - they would make a great death squad (very fluffy) in the future. Ta Laney | |

| I know many players like you.. attracted (hehehe... pun intended) to the Dark Eldar ways. But the metal models are VERY expensive... and would make sense to start now they will come in plastics! My only concern is NOT with the Dark Eldar... but with what GW will do to them. The screw up (BIG TIME!) the Blood Angels... butchering the background. They even crapped the Tyranids. Yes, I'm a purists... and I demand perfection. I understand it is hard, but unlike 98% of players who only talk the talk, I manage walk the walk with ! We strive for excellence. Anyway, I'm afraid for the DE... no more sado-masochistic references... if they covered the boobs of the Daemonettes, they will definitely tame the Dark Eldars. Your plan is sound! Take ONE Battle Box and assemble 10 models... prime them and paint them. Rinse and repeat! Good luck... keep us posted! | |

| Unfortunately, in terms of recruiting (getting them to spend their parents money!) new players they need to tame it all down. That is where players and modellers then subvert it all and create our own darkness. The best we are likely to get on that front is some new pics by John Blanche. I personally think that the Dark Eldar probably need more emphasis on their corsair nature (rather than S+M!) to better mirror their warhammer cousins. On a modelling front they will have more plastics (yeah!) and they will likely be more dynamic (it seems to be the GW word of the year - given their recent releases - Skaven, BA, Island of blood). But hey, I like the Blood Angels (apart from the Swallow Books - they are the only warhammer book(s) I have ever failed to finish) - though mainly because two boxes of BA have given me about two months of kitbashing/converting joy! If I actually wanted to win anything I'd probably play guard (and I have half a small army now anyway - thanks to the Varangians!). I am a 90%painter/converter and a 20%player (that's the 110% I always give to stuff! ) Ta Laney | |

| Thanks for the Replies! As I say, the Chaos will just be something I can pick up, put down, and generally fart around with, with all the Model Variety in the Battleforce Box. That being said, though, I still want to structure how I complete the Box, so I'm going for the '1 Unit At A Time' approach. As for Dark Eldar, they'll be tamed a little, but surely if anyone at Games Workshop has any respect for the 'Old Hands' and 'Veterans', they'll have a little taste of 'Grotesque' in there somewhere. Perhaps there'll be a 'Rated 18' Version. I'm now also looking into Fantasy, though. Originally, I was interested in Vampire Counts, down to either their Value for Money, or the Model Detailing. Value for Money in terms of the Zombie Horde, for example, and Model Detailing as in Dire Wolves. However, there's a Rumour in the pipeline, which has been backed by 3 Major Sources, that Orcs & Goblins are the next Fantasy Release. I'm a sucker for shiny, new shit, so I'll need to wait and see what they're like. I'm a fan of the Orcs, especially the Boar Boyz, but not so much the Goblins. They're like Gretchin in Warhammer 40,000; they're trodden on by the bigger, more 'Dakka' Orks. All these things will be coming together slowly, I bet. Right now, I'm just grabbing and Painting random Models that I'm finding around my House, like a Deffkopta Squadron; they're pretty nice so far! (Well, I can say that now, since I've only done the Rotors. ) I'll get around to some Pictures, but to give you a rough idea, the Rotors - which, if you ask me, look gangsta' - are Hazard Striped. It's easy, really; Skull White Primer, Iyanden Darksun, Masking Tape for the Stripes, Chaos Black, 1-2 Washes of Gryphonne Sepia. Bang, done. I'm thinking of doing a Red & Black Variant for the Squadron Leader, which would be the same, only with Mechrite Red and Badab Black. That;s undecided at the moment, though. Cheers, Popsicle | |
