| So, I'm finally back from Blighty, and got myself an early b'day pressie! I got both the Shock Troops box and Viking Huscarls box from Wargames Factory to make my IG "space viking" squad, and this is what I've come up with: Stygge Hund (Sergeant), Morgen Fugler (Leiutenant), Uredd Leder (Captain), Bjorn Klem (Leiutenant) and Lang Tann (Sergeant) Uredd Leder Bjorn Klem Dolke, Kutter, Jeger and Kriger (Infantrymen) with Brann Drake (Heavy Weapons Specialist) centre. Dolke and Kutter Brann Drake Oh, and it turns out that Aussie 10 cent pieces are exactly the right size for bases | |

| Look great so far. I recognize the greatcoat troopers but what other kit(s) did you use? | |

| Thanks guys! @ moggd: Uredd's going to be the first to get painted so you'll get to see the finished product soon! I've since added a wolf cloak from the old Middenheimers sprue which really makes him stand out from the rest (besides the helmet and massive chainsword!) @ Mordheimer: That's the flamer that comes with the Shock Troops, so I can't take any credit for converting there, though I did have to carve a huge chunk out of his left arm to get his hand anywhere near the thing! Still not perfect, but if I'd carved any more he wouldn't have had an arm left The helmet was a last minute decision, and I'm so happy with how it turned out @ Kiwi: I got the Viking Huscarls from Wargames Factory for the heads, recruits' bodies, axes and shields; pinched the chainsword from a Tallarn Rough Rider I had lying around; and pilfered the leitenants' shoulder pads, the sergeants' clubs and Brann's helmet from bits I had left over from the Bretonnian Battalion box. And now it's time to paint! More pics to come! | |

| Cool looking squad - my favourite has to be the captain - nice use of the tallarn chainsword (It matches your concept drawing of the squad really well). It's an interesting juxtaposition between the advanced (if ancient) tech of the imperium and the 'vikingness' of their homeworld - more interesting that space puppies anyway! Cheers Laney | |

| Awesome work man! My favorites are Bjorn Klem and Brann Drake. They give a lot of character to the squad! Drake's helmet is the master's touch on the piece - like a gas mask, but it's an helmet! Looking great! | |

| Cool paint job. I like the artic color scheme! What is that on the chainsword? The wiggly line? A Sea-Serpent? Lightning? I was particualrly attracted (VISUALLY... perverts!) to the black-lining on the model's face. It gives it a good depth. I was going to suggest not to spend too much money on your bases... but I guess I'm late. Get it? The base is a coin? BAH! I would suggest a 'snow' base. First, glue some fine sand. After it dries, make a WATERY paste of 50% water, 25% PVA (white) glue and 25% baking soda... the apply liberally over the sand. Sprinkle some baking soda if you want a 'thicker' snow. When it dries, you get that snowy effect! Keep us posted... and thanks for sharing! | |

| Nice use of the turquoise as the main colour. Not something I would have tried - but it really works well combined with the silver and lighter leather colours. Also nice multi tone effect on the wolfskin cloak. Chainswords cool as well - look forward to seeing more Laney | |

| Looking REALLY good! My only suggestion is to paint the inside of the cape pelt to resemble the actual inside of pelt. Should give a nice touch to the an already awesome model! | |

| Thanks for the comments and advice guys! Just got another fig to add to the squad from my gorgeous Wifey! And it's a girl viking! She'll be the next model painted, as soon as I finish touching up Uredd. Pics to come @ Librarian: Yeah, you're right, I really need to touch up that cloak. I'm a lazy bastard at the best of times, so it's great being able to post pics here and get the encouragement I need to try harder @ Mordheimer: That wiggly line was an attempt at freehanding a nifty vikingish design... but it didn't really turn out as well as I'd hoped I think I might paint over it and find some decals instead. And yeah, that eye is fubared. I'm left-handed, and ALL my models have a stuffed up left eye I'll touch that up as well! | |

Hehe, no sweat. I'm kinda lazy too. Have a few minis looking at me now, asking to be painted. But about the freehand: Don't use a decal! It should be an inspiration for you to try harder! I used to use decals for the shoulder pads of my Blood Ravens army (and squad). Now I freehand all of those shoulder pads. It's not brilliant, but it's practice that makes perfect! | |
