For my impending Post Apocalypse Mordheim/E.I.F. project we've made some small progress on The Beasty. The Gaming Board is underway. It's a hexagon with 42" sides & about 6' from side to side. It's set up to use Geo-Hex tiles...I'm making custom cavern tiles & SPOOKY woods.

The Table:

Beautilful work....one question though, how in the world did you get that building in the last picture to stay standing. Maybe Italy should take notes from you to keep the Tower of Pisa standing.

Thanks, moggd! What a Face
The weight of the base is what keeps the building erect. The upper portion is removable to allow access to the spooky cellar area....I'm a spooky sort of Guy.

Thanks, Laney. If you can find any, you're more than welcome to them. Now that I've quasi figured out the photo thingy I'll make an effort to update as I go along...consider that a warning. Suspect

Deaf!!! I'm impressed... no, not by the trees or the signs or the board. You are a GENIUS, so those things come naturally... but that you actually managed to become an EXORCIST and remove the demon our of your camera... WOW!!! What a Face

Ha! Seriously... superb board! A Hex board... very cool! Excellent for multiplayer. The ideas for the trees are AMAZING... and the creepy leaning tower of goblinoid Pisa... WOW! Super! Congratulations... I'm speechless!

Thanks, Guys! What a Face
I'm still not sure just how I got the photos up, but whatever. The Camera of Continual Contrariness, while being slightly more cooperative of late, is a bit limited in that there isn't a way to shut off the flash...I may have to pull off a bank heist to upgrade the beasty. Pistol

PROGRESS REPORT: The water on the Hex-Board is almost done. A couple of touch ups & it will be worthy of photos. The spooky forest pieces are ever so slowly wrapping up.

The first section of Maudeheim, the formerly underground Goblin City of the Stoned has gotten to the stage that I can inflict some photos on y'all. SO...

THE GRAND VIEW...such as it is:

Aw shucks...t'weren't nothing! Thanks Guys, kind words from one's peers are always a motivating factor & MUCH appreciated. Feel free to take any ideas you like; AND, if needed, an explanation of the "how to" will be supplied on request...I'm not planning on taking any secrets to the grave. What a Face

You better go see the bad doc and have your head checked, because that table is INSANE! Shocked

Is this terrain growing up from the styrofoam out of your fever nightmares, or did you develop some intricate blueprints first?

I suppose a little more color variaton will be in order once the landscape is complete, yes?

Having worked in a closed psychiatric ward I can attest that the Folk on the inside are saner than the Folk on the outside.

Utan wrote:

The Beasty started out with a few sketches & some notes. Once I start on something, it just grows in a spontaneous manner. It's in part inspired by Jim Hensom, Tim Burton, Dave Andrews, & Bugs Bunny. Like the central Mushroom Tower, all the rock formations will be sprouting stuctures in various forms of dilapidation/decrepitude; all inter-connected by bridges, walkways, ladders et al.

Oh most definitely...the black with white dry-brush is how I prime ALL my stuff. What a Face

Deaf... this is INSANE!

Right now, you PRIMING still leaves me speech-less. A record only you can hold. To me looks amazing... and then I remember that for you this is priming. Shocked

Now... few questions. I do not want to sound disrespectful or anything. I'm 99.9% sure of the answer, but I just want to be sure. Will this be a playable table? I mean, some of the places seem SO high! Or are you planing to do a giant diorama, worth of a museum?!

Can't wait to see things finished.

It will mostly be a gaming board. There will be a LOT of crosswalks & bridges connecting the buildings at different levels. When I did up the first Bar Wars board characters got extra swashbuckling/notoriety experience depending on the level on which the action to place....no guts; no glory. What a Face

The fall &, more importantly, the landing add a certain excitement to the combats. The top of O'Leery's Tower, where the Steam Powered mushroom Observatory will be, is 30" above the oh-so-hard-and-unforgiving ground...a definite SPLAT!
