| Just some figures I've had lying around for a while that I want to get some use out of (I'll post up the actual squad i'm working on once I find a head I like for the boss!!) Ab-human guardsman: Got a couple more ab-humans about I need to finish too. Some mutants: I have some of the old Mordheim undead "Dregs" to work into this warband too. Kroot shaper: Plenty of kroot and kroot houds to work on for this warband (I collected Tau when I played 40k).

| The abhuman guardsmen would make some nice renegade sergeants for an imperial renegades warband... Nice conversions! | |

Don't need to be renegade, IG used to be able to have a pack leader and beastmen guardsmen, that is the inspiration for this model, he'll probably end up an IG SGT in a mixed race unit (humans, beastmen & an Ogryn).

| I thought beastmen were in the first editions but were essentially removed from IG though with modern fluff.
Besides that I'm liking the models, particularly the first one.

There was a chapter approved ab-human regiment list released for the IG back in 3rd or 4th edition though which contained beastmen. Here is the original inspiration (stolen from the web) - the original pack master For anyone thinking about trying this here are more random ideas from the web: mages.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/8/23/132477_md-Beastmen,%20Imperial%20Guard,%20Penal%20Squad.jpg myweb.tiscali.co.uk/bferrie/minis/beastman03.jpg mages.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/12/28/71975-Bash,%20Beastmen,%20Guard,%20Imperial,%20Kit,%20Kitbash,%20Scavenger,%20Soldier,%20Tiger.jpg mages.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/10/1/277009_md-Beastman%2040k%2C%20Beastmen%2C%20Imperial%20Army.JPG

| I probably should have the White Dwarf containing that Abhuman Chapter approved somewhere. Do you know which issue it was? | |

| I do have a foam tray full of Arbites and Enforcers so that could definitely be an option actually... of course I do actually have 2 Cyber-mastiffs that have also never been used lol. | |

| Some very interesting conversions - ace use of necron parts (an army og these guys would look cool) no ideas for the first one beyond what's already been said.
The second guy could be ex-Gue'vesa or a veteran of the Damocles Gulf Crusade who brought back some trophies (reminds me of the dogboys from the RIFTS RPG universe) - or maybe just an alien mercenary who has teamed up with the force temporarily. If you're running renegades a couple of these guys (or other aliens) could easily be the sergeants in the squad (their alien nature being represented in the form of mutations and the Won't work for chaos could be replaced by A hate the xeno equivalent). Xeno-sympathiser renegade squads could be cool.
A quick question - how did you get such a smooth surface on the top of the gun (you and Lazi have both done it). My cuts even with a new blade tend to be a) wonky b) scratchy - I wondered if you just had a steady hand or a different technique?

| I did that lasgun conversion many, MANY years ago but I expect I used the knife to begin with then finished with a file.
The only reason I made that dog guy is that I used the lower half of the head on another conversion and was trying to make a beastman wit ha gas mask, however he turned out looking way more dog that beastman so that is where I went with the conversion.

| Plus this guy: [/quote] I really like this one, you unwittingly made a convincing Tarrelian Dog Soldier mercenary, employed by the Tau!; "... a minor reptilian species of alien found throughout much of the galaxy. They are commonly known as Tarellian Dog-soldiers, because of their snouted faces and their habit of working as mercenaries. During the Great Crusade the Imperium virus-bombed most of their home worlds, almost wiping the species out. For this reason they have a great grudge against the Imperium. The Tarellians have not been conquered by the Tau but are often found fighting as mercenaries in their armies, particularly when the war is against humans." http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Tarellian#.Tx3AY6X84bI | |
