Hello all. My name is Beau, and I found this site through the blog "Rust and the City" while looking for some inspiration on my Nurgle themed Dark Mechanicus. A buddy and I have been tinkering with the idea of getting back into 40k as a way to not get completely burnt out on Warmachine/Hordes. I've always loved the fluff of the grim-dark future, but the rules always have me shrug my shoulders and mutter "Meh." Like many, I have gamer attention deficit disorder, so the idea that I can model, paint, and play a game with only a few models, and then move on to the next project seems like a good fit.

I'm not a speedy or a good painter, and more often than not, my attempts at converting/painting don't do justice to the ideas I have in my head, which leads me to not paint or convert nearly as often as I "should." I'm working on that, and the Dark Mechanicus project is my way of staying motivated.

I'm looking forward to trying the system out and seeing what really strikes my fancy.

Thanks,
Beau

Salute Welcome Brother Hjorhrafn!!! Salute

Welcome to Death Squads! You find Narcissuss' Blog! WOW! I tell you... you could not find a better source of inspiration (what you wish you do) or demoralization (what you wish you do)... heheheh! His talent are numerous... and a great guy too! But don't tell him... we have him modeling, converting and painting models as a way to earn our communal acceptance. Hehehehe...

I think Death Squads will be a great motivator for you. You see, the game will center itself as a Story Based Campaign... each game being a chapter on your story. You can paint a few Recruits and leave the Officers somewhat generic (even blank bases... not recommended) for a game or two. After you see how they develop (injuries, skills and weapons), you will get inspired on how a particular Officer looks and you will be ITCHING to make him a reality.

Also, we LOVE pics! We are not all Narcissuss, Laneys, Komfritten, balangazes, jd3s or DeafNalas... to name a few of the AWESOME people that share their talents here. But we all LOVE pics and will give you (LOTS) of encouragement and any hints (if you so desire). So.. post your work!

Take care... enjoy your new addiction! Just Kidding
