Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log Empty
PostSubject: Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log   Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log I_icon_minitimeThu Jan 26, 2012 2:00 pm

I decided to start two projects for P.E. I would like to finsh the modeling part before February 13th, when my short holiday ends. I think I can manage painting somehow, ut the modeling part takes to much time. So about the two possible prisoners (I will decide which one to finish after I know the recipient).

First is former IG-man. I think IG player should be still able to use him, but he is intended to be on Renegades side. I already made tha upper part of him (most of the conversions there) and now I am waiting for legs from my friends bitz-box. I equiped him with chainsword and hellpistol. He also has a bionic arm and will get some eye implant (something Borg-like). I also found some old guitar strings, so I'll use them on some pipes and cables. I also decided to go beyond my experience and sculpt him a coat. You know, some badass long coat. I hope I'll be able to manage it Smile I usually used greenstuff for filling or making some minor things. But as it was said somewhere in the first post of PE2012 - we should try what we haven't tried before, right? Smile

The second project is not exactly a prisoner - because who would capture and imprison the Trash-kan, right? Very Happy Inspired by moggd's trash-kan, I decided to use the paint bottle. I want the inside to be visible (so you can see the wired-in grot Smile ). Also it's going to be in the middle of a testing so some grots will be dancing around with tool's and trying to make some final adjustments. But you know Orkz - there is no better testing field the in the middle of battle. Our little grots should better be really carefull about where they stand, or they might find themselves right under the "might" stomping foot of the Kan. This project is challenging because I never tried to make a machine from the (s)crap - and this model really requires it Smile
There is something already finished on the Kan. I have the maing torso (that part was not so hard, he Smile ) with legs and also one arm (armed with burna) is ready for some minor improvements. I am really looking forward to work on this one (not that the Renegade-guy is any worse Wink ).

I'll try to take and post some pics tomorrow.

It sounds really interesting, I really like the (former) IG idea... Like you I also only use GS to fill gaps, only thing I ever sculpted is a apron for a ogre butcher, it was harder then i thought, but that should not stop you from trying Very Happy

-Wait: I have also made a loincloth and a gladiator mask, the mask not very good...

Here is a link to my ogres if you can use it as insperation: http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t4029-skavenslayers-journey-down-the-fat-silver-road

Not bad, not bad. I like all the conversions Wink I just hope my coat will come out at least as good as that apron. Thanx for pics.

And here are some pictures of my creations:

First the renegade:

And now few shots on Trash Kan (which is really becoming my favourite):

The one crazy pilot wired in:

Burna arm:

Some parts I am planing to use:

And two gretchins from the service team - Navigator named Crash (going to be standing on top of the Kan and yelling at pilot through the opened hatch) and Drill Masta (maybe comming on his own base):

Hehehe... now I have some time (few mins, at least!)

The Renegade is ACE! Love the gas mask... nice touch! Where did you got the bionic arm? Pretty cool!

The Trash-Kan... EXCELLENT! Love the crude interface (OUCH!!!) and the blockiness. It seems like a proto-type, which is exactly what is supposed to be! Just Kidding Very wacky. Are you planing to NOT cover the 'glass"? Would be cool to be able to 'see' the pilot!

Definitely... you should make a log for the Trash-Kan alone (so it is not with your Prisoner... unless you plan to send the Ork monstrosity too! Just Kidding

Thanks for comments Smile

The Trash-Kan is one of prisoner possibilities (I have not decided whether I will send the Kan on the Renegade yet).

The bionic arm on the Renegade is from cadian command box. I just cut off the shoulder pad and repositioned it a little bit (and replaced the powersword with the standard issue laspistol).

As to the Trash-Kan and visibility of the pilot: I will paint the "glass", but the front part will be made from plasticard and there will be part of the armor missing, so the pilot is visible... and you can also see him through opened hatch on the top.

Both models are going to be very cool. The positioning of the bionic arm give probably my favourite IG/renegade pose (they really should do a bionics bitz pack at GW).

The trash kan looks far too painful for the pilot!

Yes, they should. It could make for really interesting conversion. I know only of Microarts Studio doing some bionic conversion packs, but it can get a bit pricey :/ And I think it's not plastic which makes it less useable.

Small update on Trash-Kan:

Navigator assembled and placed where he belongs:

Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log TrashKan011
(Still have to sculpt the right hand holding the hatch)

Almost POV of the Navigator:

Update on Burna-hand:
Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log TrashKan012

And whole new "Buzz-Claw" Smile
Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log TrashKan013
Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log TrashKan014

I ran out of glue yesterday evening (and I am lazy to go get new one today) so now I am going to do some greenstuffing on both Renegade and Trash-Kan (as well as on some IG-men I still need to finish). I hope I'll have some new pics of Renegade soon.

FANTASTIC WORK! The I.G. is a GREAT minis, but the Trash Kan is on an entirely different level of craftsmanship...that is a TRULY AMAZING, INCREDIBLY INSPIRED PIECE. It is scant wonder that you have become my hero. Shocked

That trash can is awesome. How on Earth are you going to paint it? I am guessing unassembled. Great use of all the grots. I think grots are hilarious. I have a built trashcan somewhere but this makes me think I should revisit it. Very creative. This is going to be so cool when it is painted up.

The renegade's mask and pose are great too. Where is the right arm from?

Yes, I'll paint the Trash-Kan unassembled - there will be three parts: 1) the inside panel with Grot pilot, 2) the main chasis, 3) the top with arms. Plus the base with at least one other "mek" grot. I have still some trouble figuring out how to put the Kan on the base. I have several ideas and will probably end up with the flying stand stick variant (so the Kan will look a little bit like being in the middle of jump - I might support the "jumping" nature of this Kan with some springs on legs Smile ). I was thinking about just pinning it to the base, but I am not sure if that would be stable enough with current variant of legs.

I just hope I'll manage to paint it right. I never tried painting machinery and had no experience with orkz. So many "first times" on this one Smile

The grots are hilarious in nature. It doesn't take that much effort to make them so Wink But I am having really much fun thinking what they might be doing around the Kan.

The right arm is from Empire Militia box (originaly comes with a sabre) as is the head.

I'll try, sir Wink

Anyway - UPDATE time Smile

I finaly made the legs. I just hope it will be sturdy enough to hold the weight of Kan itself. Unfortunately I also found out that 40mm base ir REALLY small to fit in the Kan and even one grot, so two Grot-Mek-Aids I wanted to make are going to be independent models.

And two pics of the back of chasis:

I made some GS work on Renegade, but nothing to place here. But soon, soon...

From an engineers stand point it looks like the trash can is about to fall over. The legs need to be spread further apart from the body to give the tread base a wider support. We can all see that you are limited by the 40mm base, however: you can extend a "rock" off the base itself at an up and outward angle, thereby giving you a wider base to spread the legs out.

It can be something as simple as the cork board stretched out over the edge to look like a large boulder on the ground.

Something like this:
Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log IMG_0523

Lazi's Prisoner Exchange Log IMG_0522

Now granted this is something that wwas put together really quickly, but with a little time and effort you can make the trash can look a lot more balanced and proportional.
