PostSubject: Prisoner Received: Narcissus -> Mordheimer (pic HEAVY!!!)   Tue Jun 05, 2012 9:24 am

I got home late from work... and on the counter was a box! I smiled. I turned to my wife and before I could speak, she mocked me... "Uhhh, The Prisoner is here! Valeria was all excited. Meh... it is just a piece of plastic." I looked at her with pitty... "It is art... one that you could not make. For that matter, neither can I. This is the hard work of a friend, who sent us something special." Life is about little treasures and connections. This box? This is a DRAGON'S HORDE!!!

Rather than opening the box right away... I did the unthinkable.

I waited.

I wanted my daughter (Valeria) to open it, since she obviously understood the value of so many countless hours of dedication and skill. Yes, Comrade Boris may be just a 'silly plastic toy soldier'... but to me (and my children) represents physical evidence that I have a friend in Canada. At least one that is as crazy as I am!!!

So... in the morning, before school... the unavailing! The children gather around... it was X-mas all over! Some pics... enjoy!

Valeria, opening the box.

Valeria, reading the note.

Removing the filler papers...

While the Children enjoyed very much the Class notes regarding Cloning (it opened a discussion on cloning... damn I want to see the Prisoner!!!),
the little one particularly enjoyed the Snow-Couple!

Opening of the base. Alejandro kept screaming "CAREFUL!!! IT HAS POWDER!!!"

Taking the Comrade out of the stasis chamber. Someone appreciates art!

Comrade Boris... drinking at the dinner table!

Valeria, holding some bobby traps!

The little ones could not resist, so I gave them something else to open.
Here is Mr. Attention To Detail... Alejandro took almost 2 mins to open the extra weapons!

Tatiana, fill with envy, HAD to open something.
I said in my Admiral Akbar's voice "They are some Traps!" Nobody laughed. Sad

Last... all the MordlingsTM (Tatiana, Valeria & Alejandro) showing off Papi's Treasures.

@ Narcissus: Thank you VERY much for such wonderful creation. We lived the creative process. We talked about Boris on the way to school. Valeria wondered if the fur was real... she knows it was sculpted, but it just look too real. Me? I'm expecting the glass lenses on the gas mask to pop out any second. Because it is REAL glass... at least is what I told the little ones! HA! Thank you! We will look at Comrade Boris in years to come and remember how we shared the wonder of your creation together. Your art (because that is what it is... ART!!!) has created memories way beyond a silly game. Welcome to the family, Cameron!!

Posts like this bring a smile to my face, so much obvious enjoyment and appreciation for something most would consider so silly Just Kidding But you are right, that model is a piece of art.

Thanks for posting the story Mordheimer. I'm really glad you like it. Looks like the protective white blue tack got squished a bit in shipped. Glad nothing broke though! It is great to see your children and see the unpacking process. I'm just pleased it brought all of you some joy. That is hilarious you unpacked the notes too. We were moving as I posted this, so I had to use some scrap paper to fill it. My girlfriend's university notes and some drawings and things (I think a Christmas card test).

This model was a joy to make. I really enjoyed making a model for someone else. It was great to push myself to try new things. I also loved seeing everyone else's creations. It is pretty cool to receive a custom model from someone you have not met in real life. I really enjoyed the prisoner exchange and will look forward to the next one.

Hehehe... please thank your girlfriend for the Cloning notes. They are very complete... now the MordlingsTM want to clone something. I volunteer myself, so TLRB gets finished... but my wife would probably take the opportunity to murder one of us and get away with it! Shocked

THANKS!
