Hello everyone another newbie / fresh meat!

Just thought I'd drop in and say hello! My name is Jon.

Used to play wh40k in college waaaay back when ( i belive we were on the 2nd edition rules) and now looking to get back into it on a smaller (read: more affordable less obsessive) scale.

Just picked up Space Hulk thinking that would be it then did some research and found this site.
Got lured in by the skirmish rules and found some great info on painting and diy terrain!
Hope I can contribute someday.

Other than that...i'm located on a little island in the Caribbean - working from home and looking forward to a something to do at night that doesn't involve lot's of fruity rum drinks or staring at a computer screen any longer than I have to!

Thanks everyone! Waiting on Space Hulk to get here.

There is a slight chance she will as long as she doesnt find out how much i paid for it! Smile

Flip side is she is a ceramic artist and I showed here some of the terrain work on here. I'm already dreaming up an entire Space Hulk board made of Porcelain. We'll see!

Finally got my Space Hulk in. Figured I'd drop by - see what's new.
The guy shipped it standard post instead of priority which means it sits in a bigger pile in puerto rico for an extra 6 weeks.

Afraid not much to see so far. Ive got worked piled high for the next 2 weeks then a month off! I dare not open the box until my work is done. Planning on heading back stateside and picking up some paint and more supplies in 2 weeks.

Also thinking about picking up Dark Vengeance Box set if anyone has any opinions out there? I've seen em for 78.00 on ebay.
Was thinking I could build up the Deathwing termies for SH. I have no real plans on building up either army as of now.
Also ~~heard~~ read rumours about a new GW Inquistors box set that supposedly will have 40k skirmish rules as well.

Great to hear your hobby is moving forward! Bummer to get stuck waiting for so long!

The Space Hulk box is pretty fantastic. The game is fun, the components are very cool and the models are great looking (to the point of intimidating. Mine is still unpainted, until I feel a little more accomplished... and other things get painted.)

The Dark Vengence box is pretty cool, with a nice variety of models. Even if you don't end up using it, you could certainly sell off or parse off the bits that you don't use. I've been thinking about getting some of the bikes to hack into terrain bits. There's also a nice little campaign booklet (3 games or so) that you can play single player, to teach yourself the rules and various units.

If there's any sort of craft store near you, you can absolutely use any kind of acryillic hobby paint. You might need to learn how to thin and mix colors a little more than if you bought miniatures branded paints, but if you're primarily modeling for yourself, you can save some money with generic stuff.

I'm trying really hard not to get too worked up over the Inquisitor rumors, so that I don't end up disappointed....

Way too much ended splashing 275 plus shipping.
about 2 weeks later my wife happened to log into my paypal account... it was an interesting few days trying to explain paying almost 300 for a "board game"
Oh well...she just took my credit card and extracted her own vengence in the form of 4 pairs of shoes

Haha can pretty much imagine how that went after she found out about it! Had some of those occassions in the past myself.
Still a nice catch though now you at least have it. It's still on my wish list but people are indeed asking way too much for it.
