Hey Everyone!

I just got my package from the Deadzone kickstarter today. The terrain I've received is huge (a board full for Death Squads!). I'll post pics, once I've started putting it together (I've spent all night just clipping it out).

Did anyone else go for the deadzone kickstarter?

How is the plastic on the other models and the terrain? Is it that weird stuff that sedition wars is made out of?

The models are restic (like sedition wars but with better casting - some irritating mould lines though). The enforcer models will fit well with the sedition wars in terms of style. Some of the second wave models (peacekeepers = not terminators) are polystyrene (5 for $10 on the kickstarter!). The gaming mat it came with is good too - I wish I'd bought another 3, but as I was already into this for $300 I decided that I had enough stuff coming.

The terrain is polystyrene (poly cement works fine on it) and it clips together pretty well too. I'm going to buy some spray cans, masking tape, salt and washes and see what I can do quickly to fill a table. Any advice on how to stencil numbers/names? I hope to add a little detail in terms of posters, small signs, graffiti after that. The amount on the kickstarter was huge (I got Strikeforce, which was plenty, plus an extra $95 bundle on top of core worlds, fortification and landing pad scenery - this will fill a death squads battlefield easily)

A quick tower I knocked up this morning...

Deadzone Terrain P1010619

There's enough in the box to make 5/6 more of these (if I wanted to), with tonnes of scatter terrain, barricades and gantries/walkways on top (very excited!). The only complaint is that people have run out of the clips, before running out of terrain pieces - but as I will be gluing in the end I'm not that bothered.

That does look very sweet. Do you actually play with all this stuff though? Wink

It looks nice. An alternative to the expensive out of print necromunda terrain.

For stencils, I often cut them out of cardboard or masking tape. You could also get some plastic numbers stencils from a kids art place.

I wish I did play with it! Maybe a nice table of scenery will help me! Though I'm usually too busy to play anything (even solo play) at the minute (work and putting a new kitchen in have scuppered my free time recently).

Thanks for the advice on the stencils Narcissus.

I backed the kickstarter, but not at a level that would get me the boxed game or any terrain - just the rules and a few models. The terrain is looking pretty good though; there may have to be some in my future.

I've started building some 'rooms', which can break up to make damaged buildings or be slotted together to make military bases, space corridors etc (I could do with more doorways though to make the idea work really well, but I'll have a table full of terrain (and hopefully painted too!).

Then maybe a game or two could happen (you never know).

So I was just coming here to ask if anyone had backed

http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/battlezones/product/battlezones-sci-fi-urban-quadrant.html#tab2

when it was on Kickstarter and look what I found. Any updates? Is it static once it's built or do the connectors make it modular.

Think that pack is worth the 180 bucks? Seems like a better deal than most of the laser cut MDF sets I've seen, not to mention better detail.

The Mantic terrain is great and well worth the money! It isn't truly modular, but it allows for a huge range of building options (provided you like cubes!). The detail is superb and I couldn't recommend it enough (much better than the models I got with the set).

I haven't put my mantic terrain together yet (I only got what comes with the core game though), but it looks great on the sprues and seems like it has a lot of potential. I'll agree with Laney that I am a much bigger fan of the terrain than the models (I got the Enforcer, Plague, Rebs, and Marauder starters and I'm very bummed by the quality molding of the miniatures, which is a shame, because they are actually pretty decent sculpts).

Not truly modular, so once you assemble something there's not taking it apart? The kit I linked mentions "connectors" which made me think you could link stuff together temporarily. Is this not the case? I'm pretty sure I'm in either way, but want to know if I'll be storing flat pieces of plastic or assembled buildings.

Tried three times and I still have only managed to get 20 minutes in before getting interrupted. Still I think I've seen enough. Completely store flat modular in theory, but when painted and such that will go down due to gluing unless you're willing to deal with damaged paint would be my take at least.
