Howdy! Back on December 3rd, the family decided to pay a 'surprise visit' to my wife's cousin Utan. After some time, we managed to sneak a game of
! He has a HUGE collection of Orks... so it was time for the WHITE WAAAGH! to do their Ork-thing and show who is Boss! Hehehe... We randomly determined the Scenario... Drop Zone! I have never played this Scenario in a 'real' game... OHHH!!!! It was fun!
I know I took VERY long to post this, but I was distracted by other activities. So, rather than my usual stories... this will be more like a normal Battle Report. Hope you enjoy it!
Utan had not played, so it was time for him to learn. First, we made newbie Squads; I had my typical Close Combat Orks (14 models) and Utan decided to try to put a more shooty (we laughed!) Ork Mob (with 11 models). Utan has a WONDERFUL amount of terrain! Some of it is pre-made and some of it is scratch built. All of it, amazing! For our story, the Orks got wind that there was a transmitter nearby and whoever kicked it hard enough several times would eventually start an automated humie drone that would pass by and drop some goodies. Whoever could get the goodies would gain the upper hand and become the Boss.
We set the table, using an inverted landing-pad as a center piece and on its center, we put a 'transmitter' in top of a
Ordinance Template (which marked the Target Zone.)
Utan set his Boyz in two areas, some near the Teliporti and others on a
nearby hill.
Me? As the awesome strategist I'm, I placed all my Boyz in the center... all nice and packed, ready to rush to the center!!! I Infiltrated my Sneaky Boss on top of a tower... SNIPING TIME! Of course, he had nothing but a Shoota (12" range)... so I wasted all my time! I'm awesome! (NOT!)
The Albino lead the mad dash, while the Flash Gitz moved in the high
ground (which would prove to be yet another tactical 'genius' move!)
The other Orks moved slowly, but with determination.
The Albino pushed the Boyz towards the transmitter... and activate it
himself! WHITE WAAAGH! RULEZ!!!
But the enemy Sneaky Boss... errr... sneaked in! Unfortunately, he was
the only target available... so an 'Ard Boy, two Boyz and a Gretchin
jumped him!
The Sneaky Boss was dispatching them without mercy!
Meanwhile, far away shooters were... hitting (
) and wounding (
x2!)
the Orks of the White WAAAGH! By The Warp... he was shooting into
Close Combat and STILL was dropping my Orks!!!! It was insane....
dropping like flies. Particularly funny (at least for Utan!) was the
Incendiary Grenade and the Burna. OUCH! My Orks burning from that molotov
cocktail, chocking from smoke or being burned by greasy promethium. GLORIOUS!!!
But the White WAAAGH! stood their ground! Not only that, but Tendi
(my Burna Boy... one day I will paint him!) moved in for sweet revenge.
We wanted to see the Burna explode... but we were not so lucky.
It was fun thou... lots of Orkies down!
At this point I had lost 4 Orks and 1 Gretchin, while Utan had lost 1 Ork,
. The Albino moved in... and the tide turned! In one entrance to the
area, The Albino and few 'Ard Boyz took care of the Burna Boy and his
retinue. On the other side, the rest of the Boyz chocked the other
entrance. It was now virtually impossible to loose.
The battle was furious...
... but The Albino dispatched few enemy Orks, sealing his victory!
VICTORY FOR THE WHITE WAAAGH!
Post-Battle SequenceThe game was pure beat 'em up... pure Ork mayhem!
We decided to roll for Post-Game so Utan can see how it is done. I suffered LOTS of OOA; 7 (out of 14!) Orks down!
and lost 2 Boyz and a Gretchin... I rolled GREAT! For my loot, I got 3 Helmets and 2 Mesh Armors... SUPER! Not only that, but on my Exploration Phase I rolled my favorite... PRISONERS! I got 3 Prisoners... which now a re my 'super Gretchins'! Utan suffered 6 OOA (out of 11); 2 Boyz dies and his Sneaky Boss got... CAPTURED!!! HA! I got his Helmet and Mesh (add more to my count!)
I learned that TLRB really needs an overhaul. LOTS of info spread around. Yes, I know that many of you have mentioned that before... and we are working on it. I just wanted to mention it.
Hope you enjoyed the Battle Report... I certainly enjoyed the game! Thanks Utan!
PS: Happy Borthday Utan!
