| Just wanted to show some courtesy and say hello. Been a fan of W40K/Necromunda since many years. Have been dormant for the past 15 years, but some cleaning made me find an old box full of exquisite minis painted while my hands were still steady. Dusting off the old tome of Necromunda made me interested in finding out the state of the game, i.e. What is new under the sky. Madness. When I last played W40K, it was still 2nd. edition. To my horrors I see GW have pushed it to 5th edition (already). Sheesh. My good old 2000p Blood Angel army is more or less useless, unless some heavy modifications are being made. Even then fielding a W40K army is limited to those with extra, empty, rooms in their apartment. So plan B was to find somewhere, something that I can adapt my marines to. -Lo and behold. I am almost perfectly timing it. Needless to say, I am definitley, seriously, eager to check out what are the next TLRB-download. Those Space Marine Scouts I have floating around in their stasis-chamber (read: cardboardbox), might soon have to be activated for some service on a distant gruesome planet. I am not much of a player though... ...having a girlfriend demanding attention, work, and other things leaves little time to gather with other players for a all-nighter. I found/find DS to be the solution. With this, I might be able to field two small, as in VERY small, gangs and have them fight each other on the coffee-table while watching those obligatory drama's that women tend to force their boyfriends to watch with them. Then I can quietly focus downwards and fantasize about bloody horrors, while Richard Gere kisses Julia Roberts, et al. I have barely started to read up on the rules, but I am getting there. Been so long since I touched a game like this, that getting into it takes some time. So far i like what I see. There are some stuff I recon I'll comment on at a later time, because there are something that I find unclear. I will get back to that, since I want to make a clear non-confusing question. -Makes it easier for us all, right? Cheers, and congratulations to all your outstanding work towards a very cool product. | |

| Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll see what I can do about the mini's. Will take some time though. I have shipped them off to a safe place in Norway, of all places. Will be going there last weekend of may, so it won't be a too long waiting period. I still warmly remember the sergeants of the squads. Not many opponents expected to meet a mini with a powerfist, great HtH, AND a shield, great save. -If they weren't picked off at distance... Oh, and my sweet Heavy Plasma Devastator Team. Lining up three of those suckers are quite demotivating I definitley understand why Terminators and Heavy Plasma must be dropped from DS. It is just to vulgar and cheesy, even for a w40k-game, imo. So, how I found DS. Just by coincidence, really. Being interested in creating a imperial renegade necromundan group/gang of Rogue Trader'esque smugglers, including A renegade Space Marine, a couple of lesbian, and therefore excommunicated, sororita-sisters, and others that has become discontent with the imperial system. To be able to create such a mix of different 'races', I needed to find a way to alter the playing of Necromunda. To find a way to reduce the number of units, to keep costs down (modding/painting itself costs enough ). Going through different fan-based stats for altered necromunda-games, I finally found your site. The other rules changes i was looking at made very little sense. Almost everyone took a normal w40k-marine, and its abilities, and just added more to its stats, then added a huge amount on their costs. The closest I got to figuring something out with that. Was to just deploy a squad of marine scouts as a regular gang, using a regular gangs stats, and giving them carapace armour, but without touching any stats. That went ok. I was still far enough from fielding my rogue gang of grim and disgruntled ex-soldiers. With DS, it seems that it might be possible to create a mix of personel, instead of sticking to a very rigid structure. It is not like I will try to stick a Nurgle Death Guard Champion in there, but I foresee something like having a Space Marine as Leader, battle sisters as heavy weapons specialist(s), and scouts as recruits. a plethora of minis will cover the ones in between, the regular 'soldiers'. I am as I said looking forward to see an addendum regarding scouts, and the CSM leading the chaos cultists. I would be able to draw something out from that perhaps. All for the purpose of continuously personalizing the minis. | |

| Maybe by next weeken TLRB v0.5.0 will be released... and then shortly after the Chaos Cultists (Marks of Chaos, baby!)... the Kroot will follow. Then we will concentrate on the Space Marine Scout Squad. I can tell you that we solved the Space Marine conundrum... the SM feel like SM (powerful), but not cheesy or overdone. Also, the costs are not astronomical... which on itself is not bad if you play a single game, but breaks the game if you play a campaign (that is why nobody before us has been able to do it!) The Squads will be released when they are done... because the balancing act is VERY difficult. Meanwhile you have over 9 different Squads to learn how to play! | |

Awesome stuff and you are the type of people that will help make DS become even better as you already have the mentality(thinking) of small scale battles without the cheese.
We are happy to have you as part of our happy group.

I just have to spend some time memorizing rules, and create a working gang. Could always use chess-pieces, thou', but it wouldn't be the same Unless, of course, you're stacked up on units enough for two gangs?

Do you mean... SQUADS? Nah. I create gangs to do my work for me. Easier that way. Harder these modern days thou'. Actually got to pay them. Of course Squads, although my squads will propably be more toned towards gangers, hence I prefer to call them gang, not squad. It seems so... ...formal.
