This is a weathering technique I have used with orks, space marines, skaven and other things to create a decaying/antique look...

Brass/Bronze Metal Colour
Undercoat the miniature black (a mine for my urban fighters)

Coat the mini with tin bitz and then drybrush with dwarf bronze

Brass Colour (extra step)
Finally, use a light drybrush of pale gold (I used a very old shining gold bottle (it is 18! and still one of my favourite colours), which is totally different in shade to the new shining gold - you'll have to find a suitable substitute)

The Verdigris Weathering
Mix equal parts of hawk turquoise and scorpion green with a similar amount of fresh water

Paint the mix around the nuts, bolts and anywhere you think weathering should be (experiment with this)

End Result... (you can re-highlight the metal with dwarf bronze if you prefer a brighter less dirty look - I chose not to)

Ta Laney cheers (feedbacks always good)

EDIT: Skaven Leader from my Mordheim Warband (Example) - On the swords and warplock pistol...

I tried this tutorial... WOW! It was easy to do. Very Happy I was impressed how EASY it is... and the results are GREAT!

From my experience... NOT that I'm correcting anyone. Just suggesting!
- This makes for a LOT of wash!!! make sure you use small quantities. I used 4 drops of water, 2 drops of green and 2 drops of blue... That was WAY too much!!!! I would suggest 2 drops of water and 1 drop of green and blue. You could always mix more.

- A very light drybrush of the metal color could do wonders... I will drybrush mine.

AGAIN.. THANKS! Great tutorial. It was great to come and drink from the fountain of knowledge!

@ Mordheimer - you are dead right - a little makes for a lot of wash and your mix values are useful to know (I was looking at the real thing yesterday (as you do) and noticed that large amounts of verdigris weathering is a mix of greeny blue (more turquoise) and bluey green. So maybe playing with the quantities, using tiny amounts and two washes will add to the reality of the wash effect.

I love the greenstuff butt on the grot and the red TNT barrels - quality work.

I wasted loads of my mix on the board and still did three mines with it. Glad you liked it. It is a great technique for Orks and anything 'brassy', maybe old adeptus mechanicus or decayed necrons.

Thanks for the feedback

This is indeed a good technique! I use it myself for quite some time now. Although I always use pure Hawk turquoise. Mixing it with Scorpion green seems like a good idea, I'll give that a try as well! Thanks for the tip! Smile
