PostSubject: Tyranid NEWS - January 2010!   Tue Sep 29, 2009 11:55 am

Gamesworkshop announced on GamesDay UK 2009 the release of the new Tyranid Codex! What this means? Well... no Necron nor Dark Eldar Codexii!!! The WHFB Skaven will be release soon (maybe November) Sorry! For me, it will mean that I will go back in hiding to paint my 5,000 point Tyranid Army! Go kiss your loved ones and make your will...

BE PREPARED TO BE DIGESTED IN JANUARY 2010!

Quote :
From the great blackness beyond the edge of our galaxy they come, an alien swarm driven by a ravenous hunger that knows no end. These creatures have many names, for all races have come to loathe and fear them. They are the Great Devourer, the Doom of All Things, the Penance of the Elder Gods, the Shadow in the Warp. They are the Tyranids, and they have come to consume us all.

The Tyranids are utterly alien. They are creatures of visceral horror, implacable monsters with dagger-like fangs and razor-sharp claws that can tear a man apart in the blink of an eye. Grotesque living weapons fire parasitic projectiles into their prey's flesh, eating their victims from the inside out. Stalker beasts lurk in the shadows, bursting from their hiding places to attack the unwary and devour them whole. Every one of the myriad Tyranid warrior-creatures is a killing machine, perfectly adapted to slaughter its victims. They are the ultimate predators, and we are their prey.

January 2010 signals the release of the latest Warhammer 40,000 release, Codex: Tyranids. A 96-page volume packed to bursting with background, history, artwork and stunning miniatures, Codex: Tyranids is the ultimate resource for Tyranid players everywhere.

The pictures of the new Tyranid models are out! Start trembling Dozer... the skies are getting darker.

Tyranid Pyrovore (Elite Unit)
A Pyrovore's maw drips with corrosive acids that are powerful enough to reduce armor, flesh and bone to a gooey, smoldering mucous. When confronted by a foe the Pyrovore launches forth an incandescent fireball from its dorsal bio-weapon that reduces its victim to a pile of burning ash. This box set contains one seven-part, finely-detailed metal model, supplied with a 60mm round base.

Tyranid Hive Guard (Elite Unit)
The Hive Guard are charged with protecting Tyranid structures and are capable of unleashing salvo after salvo of intense firepower. Essentially gun-beasts, they are heavily armored and have a body designed to be a stable firing platform for the massive impaler cannon bonded to their forelimbs. Physically linked to the shard-beasts that comprise the ammunition to their cannons, Hive guard can target enemies with unerring accuracy - even those who they cannot see. This blister contains one finely-detailed metal Tyranid Hive Guard armed with Impaler cannon, supplied with a 40mm round base.

Tyranid Venomthrope (Elite Unit)
The Venomthrope's whip-like tentacles drip with a multitude of alien poisons. Indeed, so potent are these toxins that it is believed that a Venomthrope's very touch means certain death. Under a Venomthrope's heavy carapace is a network of bulging, gas filled bladders that emit yellowish spore clouds. These clouds are lethal to non-Tyranid organisms and dense enough to obscure nearby Tyranid organisms. This blister contains one finely-detailed metal Venomthrope, supplied with a 40mm round base.

Tyranid Ravener Brood (Fast Attack Unit)
Raveners were designed for shock assault and swift pursuit. They have incredible senses which allow them to track their prey over massive distances and detect the slightest movement, and a taut musculature that grants them terrifying speed. Raveners slither towards the foe with bewildering swiftness as their thorax-mounted weapon-symbiotes spit death. This box set contains three multi-part plastic Tyranid Raveners. This 57-piece set includes a range of additional components that allow you to personalize your Ravener Brood. Models supplied with 40mm round bases.

Tyranid Gargoyle Brood (Fast Attack Unit)
Gargoyles are often the first wave of a Tyranid swarm to be seen in battle. Thus a Tyranid attack is preceded by the beating of thousands of membranous wings as Gargoyle Broods descend upon the foe; blocking out the sun, and spitting death from their fleshborers and caustic venom from their fanged mouths. This box set contains 10 multi-part plastic Tyranid Gargoyles. Models supplied with small flying bases

Tyranid Red Terror (Fast Attack Unit)
The Red Terror is special Ravener capable of swallowing its prey whole and this is not a pleasant way to die. There is no escape from this monster as it is capable of catching up with the fastest troops. HE IS BACK BABY!

Tyranid Trygon / Mawloc (Heavy Support Unit)
This box set contains one large multi-part plastic miniature that can be assembled as either a Tyranid Trygon or Tyranid Mawloc. This 97-piece set contains a range of additional components that allow you to personalize your model. Model supplied with a large oval base

The Trygon is a colossal serpentine creature whose iron-hard carapace is proof against all but the heaviest of weapons and whose giant talons can scythe through even the most formidable battle-tank. In battle, a Trygon's shifting mass generates lethal bio-electric energy that it unleashes upon its foes in vicious arcs of lighting.

Mawlocs are huge worm-like creatures with massive razor-toothed maws that act as the entryway to their equally cavernous gullets. Most of a Mawloc's victims are swallowed whole, there to be painfully digested. Anything to large to swallow is pounded flat by the Mawloc's muscular tail before being devoured.

Tyranid Old One Eye (Heavy Support Unit)
Old One Eye is a special Carnifex armed with huge crushing claws capable of ripping even the hardiest foes to pieces. This set contains 1 metal Tyranid Old One Eye. HE IS BACK BABY!

+++ HOT OFF THE PRESS +++ Further new info on the forth coming Tyranid rules. +++ HOT OFF THE PRESS +++

  • Hive Tyrants are to gain increased WS and I.
  • Tyrant Guard gain Furious Charge and Rage if the Hive Tyrant they are protecting is slain. Shocked
  • Lictors have a reduced points cost and increased stats such as 3 wounds.
  • Hive Guard definitely 100% have a non LOS gun.
  • Pyrovores have similar stat line to tyrant guard with a Flamer that is 2+ Poisoned and AP3
  • Warriors have a 4+ save and 3 wounds as standard!
  • Hormaguants are 1/2 price and gain I5 and Ld6.
  • Gargloyles have a WFB poison rule; all to hit and to wounds with their guns auto-wound on a 6 (maybe not rending as in WFB.) However along with a reduced points cost.
  • Carnifexs are 1-3 per Heavy Support slot and have WS4 BS3 as standard! We can shoot now!
  • Trygons are ubber Close Combat machines who can deepstrike in and if they land on a model/unit it counts as charging them. YES!!!!
  • Mawlocs are not as good as Trygons in combat, but have a very nasty pair of rules:
    1. When they deepstrike place a large(?) blast marker down and scatter etc. Any model touched suffers a S6 AP2 hit. Bye, bye Marines! Anything that survives is pushed out the way and the Mawloc appears.
    2. At the end of any subsequent Tyranid movement phase (could possibly include the turn it arrives) the Mawloc may "go underground" again. It will automatically arrive in the following Tyranid turn and again follow the rules above to see if anything is hurt by its arrival.

Dozer... I'm wearing my bib already!
