Any fantasy type deathsquad game

sorry for the poor title but i am currios to see if anyone has heard of a game like death squads and mordheim but just on mele weapons or even a game designed to replicate middle age warfare as i am a huge history geek and love middle age warfare.

(also watch out for some of 02laney's new stuff as i have previews almost and i nearly drewled over them, also we might ahave a very wierd paper game on 40k to see if powerful units that are allowed in tournoments can win games easily its just a theory i thought off and laney said lets try it)

There was a game LGW mentioned ages ago, somewhere in the fantasy wargames bit. Plus, I think there is a warhammer historical for larger games. A google search might bring up a few candidates too.

Well, of course, the Fantasy Game closest to a Death Squad style would most definitely be Mordheim...similar mechanics, purchasing characters & equipment, & a shared atmosphere.

Aha...what threw me was the title...fantasy game like Death Squad. Of course, as Napoleon put it, "history is a lie we all believe."
The only "historical" game that reminds me of Death Squad is an old, long-out-of-print game called Pig Wars. It was a beer & pretzels style game that had Saxon/Celt style warriors raiding & defending the local farming community; hence the pig in Pig Wars. From what I remember of the game, keeping the beer in mind, was that it was quick, violent, & a LOT OF FUN. I'll check around & see if anyone still has a copy of the rules.

ADDENDUM: how, other than imminent senility, could I forget? Legends of the High Seas is rather like Death Squads...kind of.
