| I am starting to model a Maccabee priest. I had to green stuff a lot of the bits for him like his streimel (a fur hat worn by some groups of Hasidim most notably the Satmar and Belz), but I think I have got the look down. I used a body from a Warzone sergeant, the head from the hairy heads sprue, a hammer (ditto) and a cape (ditto). I used a Mordheim mercenary's buckler as the basis for the hat - it has a little hollow for the mercenary's elbow that seats it perfectly on the figure's head. I added the fur with green stuff (who knew toothpicks made such great sculpting tools?) I am letting it cure as I write this and I hope to paint it in time for the start of Hanukkah, I will post pictures when he is done. | |

| COOL! I was going to work some on the stats for this guy tonight! Do you mind posting some WiP (Work in Progress) pictures? It would be nice to see how your creative mind works... anyway, AWESOME!!! | |

It should be cured by time I get in from work, so I will photograph it before I prime it. I will post photos of the finished product as well. I am looking forward to seeing the stat line. For "official" 40k games, he will "count as" a priest, I imagine with his "power hammer" counting as an eviscerator. However, I would love to see the Death Squads stats for him as well - besides for friendly games of Death Squads or even 40k it would be fun to use the "real stats" even if only as house rules.

| Goodie! I love WiP... seeing all the green-stuff makes me warm and fuzzy! It also shows the dedication that someone puts to the model. Sometimes little things are SO WELL DONE that once the model is painted, nobody notices them. Whenever you get a chance, we need to work on some fluff for the Priest (wow... that sounded NASTY!) That way we can pick up some stats and abilities that make sense. Based on the site, he would be a 'Black Priest' (sorry... forgot the exact name). I think that we can create something 'basic' for the Priest, and then we can make a Special Character (a GREAT Maccabbee Priest hero!) | |

WARNING: I am a lousy photographer but here are the two conversions I have done. This one is a little more feral looking. He is made out of Catachan legs, a Mordheim long coat torso, a head and arms from the hairy head sprue with a space marine bolter attached to his left fist. The streimel began as a buckler with the fur modeled out of a bit of green stuff. His cape is from the hairy heads sprue. This bloke is a bit more martial looking. His body and arms come from a warzone sergeant. I drilled out his fist and pinned a hammer in clipped from the hair heads sprue. His head and cape also come from the Mordheim hairy heads sprue (I got a bunch of these back when I was an outrider for just these sorts of conversions. They have been sitting for years waited for me to get around to this part of the project. Like his colleague, his streimel began as a buckler with the fur modeled out of a bit of green stuff. Once I have them painted, I will have a buddy of mine who is a professional photographer take some shots of these dudes. - Mordheimer wrote:

Okay, I think we have the germ of the fluff between us already, I will try to expand on it and we'll tweak it like we did for the Lyubov Ice Guard. I will try and get a 1st draft done over the weekend.

| The model description is VERY nice... I could visualize it fairly well. I like that he could use a shield... which is actually a functional 'armor' in Death Squads! We need to keep this in mind when designing this guy! Shame about the fuzzy pictures. I would suggest taking a peak at this link to The Basics of Mini Photography tutorial at the The Golden Bolter Society website. It will help you take better pictures. | |

| Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a look. I may ask a friend who is a pro to help too. | |

| Interesting. I picture a bigger hammer but nothing major either way. Nice work. | |

Truthfully, so did I. I was limited by the contents of my bitz box.

| Only an insane person would be happy about seeing THAT thing! When DaBank brings his Ogryn we tend to run... except for my Gretchin-Living-Booby-Traps... they just 'spring a leak'. | |
