| What are the views on using non-GW minis for DS ? I'm just asking because I know some Mordheim players freely use Reaper or other fantasy minis for their warbands. Are there people who do this for DS ? I'd prefer to use GW if possible but I may find a cool non-gw mini (or two) that fit's my DS. I know in private games people can use what ever minis they want but as designers ( & other players) of the game what are your the thoughts on this? | |

| I, personally, have exactly the same view as you have. I do not think is fair to restrict people's creativity by restricting models. I do try to make conversions... so if I have to use scratch built or other companies minis, I see not problem with it. After all, Death Squads is a labor of love! Our local group is the same way. DaBank sometimes pulls the weirdest models... they tend to be 100% GW. He just pull some obscure models! Dozer loves conversions, and he uses Citadel and ForgeWorld... but if he gets his hands on cool bitz from other companies, he would jump on them like Nurgle on pus! I do like GW models, and prefer to use them myself. That said, if no GW is available or I found a cooler model... HELL YEAH! Soon I have to make the Kroot's 'big unit'... Reaper and Citadel models merger. Thanks for asking such an intelligent and considerate question. If you and I were going to play and you bring 100% scratch built models, we probably would not play... because I would spend all the time just gawking at your wondrous work! | |

| Thanx Mordheimer,
I was just curious about Death Squads & it's players thought on the subject. I also looked at GW's store online & saw the minimal choices for I-Guard minis available. Only three regiment types & I'm not really happy with the Catachan plastic squlpts. I may have to see about finding some Guant's Ghosts minis or use Cadians & heavily convert them. I did see a cool sci-fi marine mini on Reaper's site.

| Not sure if you know this or not, but I frequent some bits websites to totally customize my squads. The Warstore is an EXCELLENT bits site. They provide a GW bits trade in program that you can get store credit for. They also sell numerous historical, fantasy, and sci-fi figs from various manufacturers. The place is essentially a gold mine for any converter or painter.
That being said, I am completly ok with other people using other manufacturer figs. But with this comes one rule of mine, the model has to be as close as possible to a 28mm scale. I say this because some smaller models gain additional benifits in DS because of our use of TRUE LOS (cover saves, hiding and the like).

| Cool , thanx Dozer. I'll check out the Warstore & see what I can find. Also thanx on the rule concerning 28mm minis as I'll try to use that as a guiding line for miniture purchases. | |
