OMG!! Burndown29 is back from the dead with a new Cadian list!!

Man, it sure has been a long time since I posted anything on here. Let me extend my sincere apologies for leaving you all bereft of my stunning wit and amazing vocabulary........ j/k. Seriously though, I freakin hate Afghanistan. It's a dirty country, that has a perpetual and all-invasive odor of rotting feces. I should be home again sometime in november, so I have that to look forward too. Also, my beautiful wife, but thats another post entirely, and methinks better for a different forum. In the waning weeks of my tour here in Hells back acres, I have begun to prepare for my imminent return by coming up with ingenious new lists for DS, as well as mordheim. Here I shall post the newest of these little Jewels, my soon to be purchased cadians. And so, without further ado, The boys in grey plastic

Please tell me if I did the math wrong. The aim was lots of shooting by everyone, with the more powerful weapons given to the guys with the Highest BS. Purchase weapons for the HWS after first game, probly 'nade launchers, and possible another 2 man group of infantrymen, to be given the autoguns from that the HWS were using. C&C welcome.

Welcome back (kindda back... you know!) I was thinking about you a month ago... funny. I brought you back with the power of my mind. It (my mind) being so weak, it took you a month to respond to summons. Hey... I'm making progress!

Well, on to your list.

So you playing Cadians? Cool! Let's see what I can do for your list. First, you are right... round down is correct. From TLRB...

• Well Equipped: Being an Officer has granted access to a variety of wargear. Only during the initial recruitment of this Officer, the costs of all Weapons, Armor and Wargear purchased for his immediate personal use would be reduced by 50% (round down). Note that the Officer may purchase any allowed combination of items that the game allow (for example an Autopistol, a Lasgun, a Sword, an Axe and 5 Grenades) and pass them another Fighter after the next game. You may NOT buy an illegal combination of items (for example 3 Autoguns) for this purpose. The Officer must be able to use all purchased items on the initial game, no exceptions.

I would drop the Swords from the Lts... with the Mauls you have enough for now. That gives you 38 credits. If you change the Sgts Lasguns for autoguns you get 14 credits more. With your 2 credits, you have now 52 credits to spend. That is one more Infantryman with an Autogun. You can use the 5 credits to by by a Frag Grenade for your Captain... or a smoke Grenade, in case you need to block the enemy LoS!

If you look at the Lasgun stats, they are GREAT when you start to see Armor. Right now (1st games), autoguns are OK.Having an extra guy is more shooting... you like that!

While I agree in principle with what Mord has said (it's all sound advice and gives you another body). Your list as it's currently built feels 'fluffy' to me. Plenty of lasguns, plenty of guardsmen and a very cool, tooled up captain - I'd look at carapace fairly soon (but that's just me). Heavy stubbers in a few games will give you a great boost anyway.

The only thing is the swords are a bit too pricey for the benefit provided.

I always use swords on my officers, but I'd leave the mauls at home. Personal preference, I suppose, but I find that swords give you just that edge you need for the counterattack (parry!).

I'm not too big on the carapace armor. yeah, the save is nice, but that -1 initiative always makes me think twice about buying it. I'm no real happy about gear that takes away from the stats of my guys. Especially Stats that are important to close combat, because no matter how much shooty i have, its gonna get down to the up close and personal eventually, and that 1 point could make the difference betweenme hitting first and taking the other bastard down, or us hitting at the same time, and both going down.

You just have to make sure you get the charge. In my experience, I 3 or 4 doesn't matter all that much, except when you want to climb buildings a lot. I mostly play shooty guard and always go for carapace (but not on my Catachans!).
