Howdy From Mordheimer's New Home In NC - Earth 383

While watching the local game shop (Earth 383 in Elizabeth City, NC) last night, this chap Mordheimer stumbles in and proclaims his need to play Death Squads!

"Death Squads? What's that?" I thought for the next 2 hours as he sung its praises and kindly handed me a cup of the kool-aid. Well, I drank it and it tasted GREAT!

I'm impressed with the amount of work the community has invested over the years creating these rules. The shop has had a number of folks wanting to try 40K, but were scared of the money investment and the daunting task of painting them. This is a chance to for them to get into miniatures gaming that hasn't been presented to them before.

I'm really looking forward to Mordheimer hanging out at the shop and getting more gamers in my area into the hobby. And of course, playing Death Squads!!!

You, lucky, you! You get to play with the GOD of Death Squads! ENJOY IT for all of us.

Thanks mamckinley! I was VERY happy for such a warm welcome! Earth 383 seems like a great place. The place is HUGE with plenty of space to play... and prime for the taking! MUHAHAHAH! Well... that sounds bad. Let me rephrase that... I think that everything is set in place, waiting for a catalyst to kick 40k and other miniature wargaming in gear... waiting for an obsessive compulsive idiot volunteer to organize and unite the players. Since I have a huge track record of idiocy... I mean... volunteering... I guess I will be "it". May the Emperor have mercy on our souls.

The plan will be to get the most 'ready' players and start playing Death Squads ... building us a table or two and some terrain. I will be 'donating' (leaving in the store as a permanent loan) my Narcissus-Laney-Chuchosky-Komfritten-Deafnala inspired terrain, as well as embarking on a nice story-based campaign. It would get the locals excited and maybe some of us could jump into 40k. As I told mamckinley, my goal is to help the store bringing new games and events related to Death Squads (and thus customers!) without having the store to have to invest on anything major (we talked about pre-ordering stuff at first, rather than kicking a huge off-the-shelf inventory to minimize the store investment)... and eventually 'exporting' our local (and maybe 40k) group across the state lines to Virginia and creating a nice between-stores friendly rivalry. I tell you... I plan to take over the land!!!!

So if you see anyone from Earth 383... you know that eventually I will trick them into play-testing ! HA! Again mamckinley, thanks for your enthusiastic ear... I hope that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship! [b]Earth 383be the friendly local game store (FLGS) I was looking for!

Great that you get Mord in person. Be careful though is seriously addictive - I've built so many IG squads for Death Squads now that my army has been built up by stealth! (I'm 50+ models down and I didn't even realise!) (not to mention the renegades, the cultists, the orks, I could probably scramble an eldar and tau squad together with a bit of plastic glue too!).

You poor poor bastard mamckinley. Just for future reference, a 2 hour conversation with Mord is a short one. If you let him get going to much he will continuously talk for far longer than that.
