I really want to paint somthing soon, but all my old paint is dry as stone and throwing out, gotta buy some new. | WELCOME, SKAVENSLAYER! Glad to see you here! Tom's Boring Mordheim Forum (TMBF, LINK) is an awesome place. Nothing boring about it! I personally would like for our forum to be a little like Tom's! Anyway... WELCOME! I think that Mordheim is an awesome game, and we managed to capture lots of the concepts and spirit that it has... and twisted them to our own nefarious purposes. It won't feel like Mordheim-in-Space... I promise. You will get the full 40k experience, but 80% of the mechanics will feel very 'familiar' with minor tweaks here and there. The other 20% will be new, but easy to learn. Especial attention to the Scenarios... I think that is one of the weakest points of Mordheim (a shame... really) so we have all make the effort in making sure that they are balanced (you know... Don't play with :chesse: , just eat it!) and Objective driven (rather than just go and kill everyone). It makes for VERY good Narrative Games! - skavenslayer wrote:

Now you are screwed! We STILL want to see those 5 to 10 Mordheim models! HA! Go ahead... no matter how they look like. Just SHARE! - skavenslayer wrote:

Again... you and your big mouth. Now you HAVE to show us! HAHAH! Conversions are awesome. Since you come from a great converting background, we could learn new tricks! I'm not very familiar with Fantasy models, so I don't tend to use their parts to convert... and EVERY time I see some models that use some Fantasy parts, my jaw drops! Well...welcome once more! Use our resources the best you can. If you find something that you have questions or that you wish to improve, please let us know!

| Don't be too quick to judge. Many things appear to be like Mordheim, but you'll find that in practice things are more solid and developed.
Play the game, find out.
Thanks for the pics! | |

| I diddent mean by any way that it is "space-mordheim"
The good thing about building a game on mordheim, is you can "fix" the mistakes and re-write things so i makes sense.
Mordheim is NOT perfect and in my gaming group we use a lot houserules.

| AGGGGHHH!!!! You are my kind of guy!!! The Ogres are cool too! Room for some Renegade Ogryns! If is funny, when someone who has played Necromunda (but not Mordheim) shows up, they say the same thing! I agree with you... some of the concepts behind Mordheim are perfect. Like the concept of the Post-Battle Sequence (Mordheim's Post-Game). The fact that you can 'win the Scenario', but still 'loose the battle' is awesome. It reflects the real difficulties of war (win, but at what cost?) I won't lie to you... some things we picked up straight from Mordheim and then we asked ourselves WHY. When we found no reason, we broke it and put it back together. Something simple. In Mordheim you have Rarity to find items. Cool concept. Now... why is it that Rarity goes from '6 to 12' and not from '3 to 12' is you have to roll 2D6? Mathematically speaking (and this is the REAL wonder of ), if you need a 6+, you have a 72.2% of finding the item. If you need a 7+, you 58.3%... if you need 8+, then you have a 41.67% chance of success. Can you tell me that there is no logical chance of finding something on a 5+ (or having 83.3% chance of finding it)? Seems illogical (stupid) to me. So, we asked... WHY. What is the Rarity for and WHY is it used like this. We figured that Rarity is a way to minimize (control) the appearance of certain powerful items... you don't want everyone with a Lucky Charm?! So... how can we make this a more logical thing AND control the acquisition of more powerful items? Simple! Extend the Rarity value from 3 to 12 AND create a new distribution. WTF?!?! Hehehe... nerd for this... In Mordheim, a Helmet is a common item. In a Helmet has a Rarity of 3, so you have a 97.2% chance of finding it. Almost a sure thing... the NINJA is that is a roll that one of the Officers have to do (waste?) that you can use to find something else (more powerful). This makes the Campaign throttle a little slower (longer Campaigns are good)... and since they are so easy to get, you feel 'rewarded' with a more efficient soldier. This process of though takes time and it passes unnoticed 95% of the time. That is why we call it a Ninja Design! Hehehe... sneaks upon ya'! There are HUNDREDS (if not thousands) of ... every time you see a rule similar to Mordheim, Necromunda, Gorkamorka or 40k... think. WHY? Eventually you may find the Other rules are completely made up... but they are fun non the less! We pick whatever we find that works somewhere else and then we THINK about it, and transform it to OUR needs. That is why looks and feels like other games (makes it easier to learn), but ends up being VERY different once you play it. I think you will like it! ALSO... after you decide to play, let me know. We collect Data (there is a section for that) and if you feel like you need to House Rule something, drop us a note! We can explain why a rule is certain way, and if you present good arguments we could change the Core Rules. Granted, it is YOUR game and you do what you want... but we like to use the player's knowledge to improve the game for everyone! | |

| Ahhh! The Economic Principles! That is another example... little things. We also tweaked with some math (under the hood) in rules and items. As you see, we are trying to make a system that is fun for the player, that 'feels' like it makes sense (and I use the terms loosely... we are talking about 40k and the Imperium here!)
I suggest you make up an IG only campaign. Make up a nice story about this back-water region on a semi-feudal planet... the local boys (IG) against some rebels (IR)... one of your buds could play Orks or Kroot to make the mix more interesting. This way you can use your Mordheim terrain and maybe some of the current models you have... although the investment in more models is minimal (like you guys need an excuse!)

| Welcome to Death Squads! Brilliant Ogres and ace Chaos guys too - But the Ogres are truly superb. You might inspire me to pick up Mordheim again (after 40k, Blood Bowl, more Death Squads, Incursion etc). Hope you find some guys to play Death Squads. Laney | |
