Well... last night I played 40k against Dozer. A nice (and deserved) break from Death Squads. I had not played 40k in 10 months, and my Nids on 23 months. YIKES! It was a VERY nice game. AGAIN... my hat's off to Dozer, for being so patient AND nice about my lack of speed. The 1st Turn took an hour 10 mins... 55 mins for me, 15 for Dozer! HA! I suck! I feel like a rookie... I mean like a rick idiot who goes to a store, spends an ubber amount of money in cool models, glue 'em quickly and starts playing a 2,000 point game... without an idea of what anything does!
Dozer had the decency of explaining how certain things work on his army... and we were laughing because I had an empty stare. If Dozer had spoke a little louder, he could had gotten a nice echo from my hollow skull! I told him...

- Hey man... go ahead and make up something. No too outrageous, but something that will make Jamie would stop, look at the ceiling and then call you for trying to cheat! See if you can get away with it!
We laughed and kept playing... like always, no cheating.
He had some isolated Scouts, and not knowing what to do, half of the army (by
accident) ended up taking care of them. Dozer sent a Dreadnought with Heavy Flamers and Flamers and brimstone from hell in a Drop Pod. YIKES! Fortunately for me, Old One Eye was close, so he charged. One charge and the Astartes-Coffin was destroyed... EXPLODED! Lost a bunch of my own guys!
I dropped 20 Gaunts in a Mycetic Spore on the other side of the table, behind his advancing army. Muhahahaha... perfect plan. Then THAT thing arrived from a Drop Pod. Holy crap!!! Another Dreadnought from hell! ALONE he roasted 19 out of 20 Gaunts.
I was stupefied! The Horror! I looked at Dozer and asked him...

- Is this the bullshit moment I told you could trick me?
He laughed and shaking his head showed me (to my complete horror) the book! HOLY COW!!! 19 Gaunts gone in a (flaming) instant! It took us 10 minutes to recuperate!
His Librarian was mentally fighting my Deathleaper... he was Ld 7! It helped slowing down the Psychich Hood thing. Dozer moved for the kill with his Command Squad... and after disembarking, the Hive Mind assault proved to much for the Librarian... PERILS OF THE WARP!!! Boom... he was dead! hehehehe... serves him well. The Command Squads made much of my Zoanthropes with ease. Then my Trigon Prime arrived and creamed lots of the Terminators (good rolls for me, bad for Dozer). The Swarmlord arrived, and he dispatched Vulcan like he was not there. Tactical Marines took my Hormigaunts... 3 hours later, it was the end of turn 3. Heheheh... I suck.
One more turn would had proved interesting... I had 6 Kill Points and Dozer had 5. Victory for the bugs... although it felt like a mercy win. Dozer... ultimate sportsman... letting the rookie win! Thanks Dozer... great game!

Dozer's VIP:
Dreadnought #2... FLAME ON! Kill Count: 19 out of 20 Gaunts.
Mordheimer's VIP:
Old One Eye: Kill Count: 1 Dreadnaught, 4 Hormigants, 3 Termagaunts, 1 Warrior (1 wound) [Conclusion: I'm my own worst enemy!]

I liked certain things of the new Nids. I don't mind taking the eternal warrior from creatures in synapse... I can live with that, but it would have been nice if they made a Psychic Power that granted that for a turn. The removal of Living Ammo (re-rolls to-wound) is pure crap! So many armies have re-rolls to-hit and to-wound, it is unfair not to have access to it. Sure, make it an add-on to certain weapons and make it cost something extra.
Certain units are over-hyped. I was not that impressed with the Tervigon... it poops 3D6 basic Termagaunts, but when you roll any doubles, you run out of larvae. Mine pooped 8 (1 roll!) before it went 'Out of Larvae"! My luck! I would had designed the same rules, but only after the first turn; if the average spawning is 9, it would give you at least 18 Gaunts (9 on 1st turn, 9 on the 2nd). Gaunts are 6 points each, so 18 Gaunsts are 108 which would make a fair trade for this weak MC. His role is to support Gaunts... so if you don't have many, its not worth its 240 points. Doom of Malant'ai was not all cracked up to be either. I learned that having a BS 3 STILL sucks! Hehehehe! I rather not get him, and get 2 more Zoanthropes with a Mycetic Spore!
The new Nids lack 'firepower' (with the removal of Living Ammo), but are much more CC oriented... which I personally like. I will try to teak a list for a later game.
