I've not finished the fine details on him, but he's good enough to show...

I've departed from the traditional 'boltgun' scheme and gone for a very light grey (pure space wolves grey) and blue washes. I've also tried a shading technique mentioned to me by a bloke at the local GW store...

Undercoat black
Spray undercoat skull white from the top of the model to create a lighting effect on the model.

When you paint over the top, this gives you a guide to the shading and emphasises the lighting effect on the model (at least in theory!).

Here's the undercoated model...

Here's the model with basecoats, washes and some highlights... (painted to represent the light from above)

The geller field switching on ready for teleport (or a dodgy camera in need of replacement!)

Looks like that technique is paying off!
The model looks great! Think I'm going to give it a try too. Smile

this is weird... I agree with Gatlag Stonetooth that is paying off.... but just seeing the model primed like that makes me nervous. HA!

Very cool paintjob. Though the Stormbolter looks a bit dull compared to the rest of the model.

Thanks for the feedback.

Gatlag - It worked but it's not a quick painting technique the way I've done it. I need an airbrush to put on the basecoat and first shade - then it will be quick (and work for the whole army in one go!).

Mord, I was very nervous too at that stage!

EDIT: The first undercoat (black) weirdly helps the white go on better as well.

Mudboy - you're right the storm bolter (and a few other bits) still need washes and highlights to support the lighting from above effect (zenithal?).

Anyway you can get a picture without the flash so bright? I think that the flash from the camera is really drowning out any extra detailing you've got on there.

I'll see what I can do on the picture front. I plan to get a proper lightbox once my shed/workshop is properly set up!
