PostSubject: First game   Wed Sep 25, 2013 5:53 pm

So I played a couple of games today with a friend and we both really enjoyed it! Laughing  I feel my squad might be stomping his at the moment:
we played two games and he restarted his squad after the first one due to his Chaos space marine being robbed LOL
I have just found a heavy stubber and a telescopic sight, as well as having a hellgun with reflex sight and a couple of sets of carapace armour Cool
he is down to 6 men, 1 with stupidity!

So I guess what I'm getting at is that is there any balancing mechanisms in place? I remember in blood bowl you got more cash if your team ratings were different and I was wondering if there was anything like this or if you had thought of introducing a method?

Hi Wookie Junior,

Are we talking two games? Did you find those items (if so, what did you roll on searching the battlefield? Did you roll successfully for rarity if purchasing? (that's quite a number of successful rare purchases - each officer gives you one chance) Carapace armour is leader only (I think - would need to check on that - this computer doesn't have a copy of TLRB on it at the minute) - so only the captain can have a set - you need to sell the other one.

He has been either very unlucky, or careless (wouldn't like to say which!) with his CSM in game 1 or 2, but could recover (for the CSM to be OOA and being robbed for him this early is an unusual set of circumstances). There is a squad rating system in place if things are unbalanced, also the squad numbers impact on your credits when searching the battlefield (so bigger squads get less cash). The chaos cultists squad (especially early campaign) lives or dies by the CSM.

With his six men in the chaos cultists squad how many dead rolls did he make on the injury charts (following the game)? That's a pretty small squad by anyone's measure. He might want to try more bodies and less equipment (one way is to minimise your officer numbers and load up on recruits - if the recruits survive the first couple of games and are put in separate recruit groups (i.e. they each get a separate advancement roll) they have a great chance of getting Lads got talent and becoming officers (on the cheap), giving you more cash to spare by game 4/5.

Hope this helps!

I thought the acolytes of Khorne were supposed to be warriors, not a bunch of pansies.

It was two games and I got quite lucky with rarity rolls, and started with the hellgun and one set of carapace (love the leades special rules).
Cheers for pointing out the carapace armour, I'll have to rectify that :/
He rather foolishly only started with two officers, but he plays enough wargames that I wouldn't want to advise him on what to do, he's experienced enough already! I'll have to look into how the squad ratings work Smile
Thanks for you're help Laney!
