These are the possessed models that Mord gave me to paint for our upcoming Chaos Cultist squad. There is obviously one for each mark. He also is allowing me to paint his Khorne Berserker Champion for his Chaos squad. I will be trying a new technique on him later on down the road. He is already been dunked into simple green to get rid of the work I had done on him previously. It takes a lot to swallow your pride and say "I don't like how I painted this, time for a re-do".
I guess you could say I hold myself to a high standard.....
Anyways, the Undivided is about 80% done, and all others have only been base painted, the bottom coat and washed.
here they are!
The berserker has been re-base coated and given a dark red color as well as washed. I was also trying out different reds on various pieces or plate to find the one that I felt looked best. It's easy to paint an area on a metal model and then scrape it off if you do not like the way it looks. The left knee pad has also been painted in gold so I can see how a specific light source reflects off of it. It will allow me to paint the right knee pad in the same way with the same light source. I will be doing the same thing for the rest of the metallic surfaces on the model. For those that are interested, I will be trying NMM (Non-metallic Metal) on the mini. I have been practicing on spare bits of spru and busted pieces that were laying around in my junk box, and acquired a reasonable (I feel) level of competency. Stay tuned for future updates!!

Looking forward to seeing how the NMM turns out. I am hesitant to try it. Good luck!

The models look very cool - I'll be interested to see how the whole squad turns out - particularly the NMM. There's a great example in White Dwarf a few magazines back of the sanguinor in NMM (might be worth a look if you haven't already seen it).
I'd love to start building my own chaos cultists - but apart from the chaos marines I have no idea what to build!
Cheers Laney

Those models AND 10 more CSM AND 10 more IG zombies AND a huge Demon I got from eBay for $25! Hehehehe... they have been sitting on my personal to-do list... which somehow NEVER gets done. Well, it is because the to-do list is above that list! Dozer asked to paint some stuff for me... and we decided he would paint OUR Warp Entities. We will leave them as 'communal models', so anyone who is playing the Chaos Cultists and have a 'big unit' can have a cool model. In all, there are 15 possibilities (3 per Mark, you are limited to your Leader's mark... and get a random Entity at the beginning of each game!) so this will be a huge boost for us as a group. So if you stop by our place, you get to play with them! So... LGW & Laney? When can I expect you? We play this Thursday... testing CC. Dysturbed? Testing new Eldars with jd3?!
Dozer: The models look painfully GREAT! WELL DONE BROTHER! Not only your painting is looking as great as always (love that Undivided Iron Warrior guy/crab/thing!) and all other are VERY impressive. The fact that you are tackling NMM makes you a better painter than I will be... I tried once and FAILED. Never had the guts to try again. MAYBE after I see yours I give it a whirl... it is on my personal to-do list.
Thanks for sharing the WiP AND thank you for helping the cause and painting models for us to use!

Mordheimer: I reckon you might have to wait a while for me to get to florida! (much as I'd love it). It would have to be a play by email game - each turn taking about 2-3days!
Souns like there are almost too many options for me to create a flexible squad for playtesting! (Might be an interesting project though - every option in minimal models - ignoring WYSIWYG).

You said it brother! Dozer has been aware of this since he started the design OVER A YEAR AGO!!! He told me... we were having lunch... "You know Edwin... it will take long time to finish this thing. So many combinations!" I laughed and responded "Quit crying, you big baby... we will be done in two months.. TOPS!" Of course... I was wrong (again!) The weird thing, is that once you start reading it, is NOT confusing at all. I was super surprised! The Squad has the 'chaotic' elements of the good ol' days placed correctly... not too much, not too little. The Squad is strong, but not unbeatable. The key characters are powerful, but there are LOTS of weaknesses. This IS the Squad for tactical players... idiots, like me, will get creamed. The Warp Entities are very 'chaotic'... very unique!
If you want WYSIWYG Warp Entities, then you would need 6 models... one of each "kind" for a specific Mark of Chaos; one without weapons and one with weapon.

Actually.....for WYSIWYG you would need 3 for each mark, and there are 5 marks, so thats 15 different models

No Dozer... for WYSISWYG you need 30 models... 5 Marks, 3 models per Mark, 1 without weapons and 1 with weapons. My comment referred if you wanted models for one mark.

HAHAHAH!!!
They will be worth the wait... I think there will NOT be many changes on them once they escape The Eye of Terror (in this case, Dozer's creative mind!), because we are aiming for stability, playability, fairness, balance AND fun.
So far I have been on the receiving end... some (most) of the time I get my butt kicked, some (few) of the times I do the whooping. I'm NOT the best tactician... so I'm my own worst enemy.
We will soon have the available for those who are interested in SERIOUSLY beta testing them. I will post when we are ready.
Sharp that knife... oil that gun...

I sense that such a project might benefit from the wonders of magnets - hmm... now that gives me an idea!
