| Just a quick post. Here is a WIP pic or two of a new officer for a new guard squad I am looking at. They are basically going to be Catachan/Deathworlders, with a kind of Stormtrooper feel about them (like the Redemption Corps for anyone who has read that book). His standard is not finished (not looking forward to painting that) and the base, plus the top highlights aren't done. He has no name yet either Always love feedback Laney | |

| Looking great.
you may try going over the tattoos with a VERY thin coat of the flesh tone. It will help it look more realistic. You may have to seal it before you try that though.

| WOW! You are DA MAN! Great tattoos! Make the experiment (in another model, please!) that Dysturbed suggested. He has the (evil) eye for art!
WOW! | |

| I've used a wash of gryphonne sepia to tone down the tattoos (It's fine over the pen - it's an alcohol soluble permanent). The guys are members of the 13th (Varangian) Gamma Commando 'Imperial Bodybags'. They are a select unit of Stormtroopers (read Catachans - they seemed the best fit) selected from the planets in the Varangian System. From Deathworlds (or Death Moonsto be precise) to Hiveworlds like Necromunda. They are called the 'Imperial Bodybags' because of their ridiculously high attrition rate (hence their low numbers and new recruits). The name came from a song by the Manic Street Preachers and struck a chord with me. The Varangian 10th/95th are going to start anew in the new campaign I've got planned (So possibly a few more models for them as well - or at least the old ones finished!) More pics to follow his weekend. Cheers Laney EDIT: Some new WIP pics of Gamma Commando... The whole squad (still have four or five specialist troops to put together + an ogryn for when subtlety is not an option!) I'm using Kasrkin as my basic troop type to emphasise the spec ops nature of the squad. A close up of the hazard signs for you Mordheimer - sorry they are a little bit dark! My Lieutenant: I just wanted to show the hazard symbols on his grenades - thought they looked quite cool | |

| Cheers guys - always a motivation. Theseus 1 was definitely a labour of love for me - this guy is more of a 'prequel' less scarred - but hopefully still Theseus. Mordheimer - how could you do that to me? He will look cool once the paint goes on - less fluffy, more scruffy - I intend to use tufts of grass to finish the ghillie suit (because I've lost all my leaves somewhere), Here a few other members of the squad tha I was kitbashing/greenstuffing last night and though I'd show them. The medic was originally going to get two bionic legs - but they looked rubbish so I went for a simple kitbash instead. The unpainted vox operator is my favourite of the bunch and I'm not sure yet what to make of chainsword/lil burner guy - he's either very camp or very hard (not sure which one though!). Kiwi - the tattoos are easy to do - you just need a very fine permanent pen 005 is the size I am using (it took a while to find one that small - my next job is to see if they do different colours - brown, red, blue and green would do). It's good for eyes too! Laney | |

| They look great as always.I really like the use of the respirator with the visored head, it looks very storm trooper-ish just one critique is the edge of his shoulder pad looks a little bit rough. I'll see if I can find a pen like that I've always wanted to try tattoos but I'm worried that I would screw up an otherwise fine mini. | |

| Laney... seriously. We can't keep doing this... you are going to KILL me one of this days! You WiP is the stuff I dream of! All the details... bionic arm, kill counts, buzzing electricity, the camo (OHHH, SWEET BABY EMPEROR... THE CAMO!!!)
You are implanting a high standard for me. Remember last time you did that? I do... I HAD to do THIS! I guess that I need to finish my Eye Pokes now!
Amazing and inspirational work! Thanks for sharing!

| Cheers Guys, The thing that keeps me creative is all the postiives (and constructive criticism or course) that I get from you lot! I did notice that the lieutenant needs a few more highlights on the pics though! Mordheimer - no more greenstuff butts from you. I want to stay the proud owner of the worlds only Mordheimer anatomically correct greenstuff gretchin butt! Other than that go wild! I'll see what else I can rustle up over the next week for the Varangian Gamma Commando (I am playing losing a Governor assassination match against Way of the Warrior on Thursday - so I hope to have a couple more finished for then - this is following a very weird last stand game, in which I had five terminators and held off a tyranid horde for six or seven turns - none of us could work out how many it actually was!) Anyways Cheers Laney | |

| You know... I have constructive criticism. Not on paint or modeling, but on this thread. It is PURE gold... you have LOTS of stuff that are amazing! I think because they are packed in one thread, most will get lost.
Do you mind if I split this? Then you can post an individual thread for each model (or small group of models). I do whatever you want... I'm a fan (and I do not mean a ventilator!), so I go through this post from time to time. It would not be any trouble.

| Mordheimer - split away! Whatever you think is best. I've just been using this as a kind of painting/modelling blog . It's nice to see the improvement I've made since joining this forum. Cheers Laney | |

| OK. I will get on it ASAP... when I take a break from The Calculator! Go ahead and start putting your new models in separate postings.
I would suggest making one post titled "Laney's Painting Blog" or something like that... there you could have a list of all the posts that belong to your Blog. This way, people can follow you.
