| Maybe some bullet holes or something to explain why it has been shot down? | |

| Laney.... OFFICIALLY.... you are ridiculous! You put us ALL to shame. Hell, I propose a contest of all of us against you. As a handicap, you get 10 minutes, a hairless brush, a dry pot of pink paint and a paper-clip to build your terrain..We get three months, 50 complete sets of FRESH red sable brushes, the WHOLE collection of Vallejo paint and three complete sets of all terrain produced by GW, ForgeWorld, Micro Art Studio and Worldworks Games. My money is that you will kick our collective asses... with time to spare!
You are insane. I'm proud and honored of seen you materialize your art. THANKS!!!!

| Dysturbed - Thanks! Some bullet holes would be a cool idea - I may add them along the left hand side to emphasise the damaged wing section. Mord - Cheers . You should check out some of the terrain builders on Terragenesis for real quality builds - Loads of ace ideas. More to come soon! Any ideas on the next competition DIG IN! (I'll have about 3 weeks to build and paint something over the holidays) Laney | |

| Looking sweet as always! I'd only give the aquila's on both sides of the cockpit a different color. Don't know if you were planning to, but I think it'll make it even more better!
DIG IN Idea => an old school bus

| Great ideas for the DIG IN! (I could easily build a scratch warhound titan head and partial body, then turn it into a makeshift bunker - using the same plans as I had for my original warhound scratchbuild - there are pics of those early efforts somewhere on the forum). The school bus idea is also genius - I'd need to learn how to paint my nemesis - yellow and find a cheap school bus from somewhere (very civilian though!). What about a Reaver head (though maybe not)? I plan to do a rotten leather seat in the plane, some coloured dials and the aquila a light brass colour with verdigris weathering. I've also got to sort out the milky colour of the pool (maybe an opaque green or a green wash). Two days and two more trees (and a wing) to go! I'll see if I can build a titan head too maybe. Cheers Laney | |

| Well im fan of Your modeling but this one has flaws. No marks/scratches of landing trough trees. Linear damage. Scratches on wings edges and nose. Some material taken on the crash and stabbed to hull. But those are details. Rust is bigger issue. There is no way that piece of technology made from various metals will rust evenly. On this pics flier look like one uniform piece of metal. Just strange shaped. This give You a generic rust hill in between trees. Do You think that heat friendly engines metal will rust the same way as paint protected hull? or high grade weapon metal? Also You should add stains of oil, fuel, other washed out materials that could flow in petite streams leaving marks. More. Surfaces higher from water should be less corroded giving us better look on original painting on top and less on the bottom. But this is just me | |

| I a disagree with tendi in most accounts... although I understand this is a subjective manner. First, I present some images of REAL crashes (except last two... artist paintings). Although we are comparing a bunch of WWII aluminum frame planes against a 41st Millennium aircraft of unknown construction... - Quote :

You are assuming the plane went down because war damage. Laney has (brilliantly) left that to the imagination of the observer. What if the Imperial needed to make an attack on a location far beyond the point of no-return and would be unable to re-fuel? Scratches? They could be there... but not necessary. There has been an obvious vegetation growth and this tends to happen fist (as mold and lichens) on those places. I'm from the tropics... trust me on that one. I may not know sh!t about snow (never seen the thing in person), but I know about invading jungle plants and mold. - Quote :

Do You think that heat friendly engines metal will rust the same way as paint protected hull? or high grade weapon metal? No You are assuming all of that is rust as you know it. Obviously, the engines are more heavily rusted than the rest of the body and the aircraft is resting in a pool of something. What if this is a world with acid-rain that the Imperium is invading? Acid rain (the one we produce in Earth) creates weird rust patterns. - Quote :
- Also You should add stains of oil, fuel, other washed out materials that could flow in petite streams leaving marks.
Which you will NOT see at all after a week or normal jungle rain. There has been some growth... LOTS of growth. No oil, no stream scars, no burn marks could be seen. - Quote :

This is actually backwards... you will see MOLD growing faster where water actually hits (on top of the craft, unless in this world it rains from the ground to the sky!) What Laney is trying to do is VERY difficult... not many have even tried, more less succeeded. MAYBE that is the brilliancy of your model... it leaves it to the observer (me!) to decide what to think. Like all good art, it presents itself for different points of view (like the time the wreck has been unattended)... I mean, if it was a week ago, then certain things would be expected (as tendi mentioned... crash scars, plane parts on some locations, oil leaks, etc). If it was 20 years ago, then other things are logical (clean undergrowth & dirt under the craft, mold and dry leaves on top, etc.) The model is brilliant! It sparks conversation (like grown-up artists want to do! ) and it looks exquisite on the game table. I wish I could make stuff like this. BRAVO! You keep going man... as long as you share pics!

| I thought I might place, but no... time to do the next one - it has to be quick. I have two sets of criteria - Defensive position (must be hastily created) and Over and Under (e.g. bridge and river). Here is the winner from the competition (it is amazing!): (MORDHEIMER'S EDIT: Place links. 1st - http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/475-2.jpg 2nd - http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/463-1.jpg 3rd - http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/471-1.jpg Others that didn't place... http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/464-1.jpg http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/473-1.jpg http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/465-4.jpg http://terragenesis.co.uk/competitions/pix/65/474-1.jpg Very tough competition - just like the last one. Main comments I got were about the quality of my photgraphy and that the piece was good, pictures weren't. One voter thought I'd built the model from a kit, even though my build thread showed me cutting the plasticard! (which may have reduced my vote - they prefer scratchbuilt). Some comments on the weathering style as well. Any quick ideas for the above two competitions will be jumped on over the next few days! And I have a new IG squad (not yet painted) to show off when I find my camera to laptop lead! Nothing more done on the modular boards at the minute as I have no tables in the shed to put them on! Cheers Laney | |

| Ok, no problem - I'll try posting the pics in the traditional way - I just copied the Image URL (ok for me but no-one else!). Komfritten - check out Terragenesis - the scenery is very inspiring and the lads over there are very helpful and honest in their critique. Laney | |
