| " Many years ago, an Ork WAAAGH! reach the planet of Hispalis II and attacked the industrial city of Betis. The guard fought well, but the Orks were near to siege the city. At that moment a small company of Marines reached the city with good news; reinforcements were on the way, but they would arrive in a couple of weeks. The Marines were deployed in a small rocky hill, very important location to avoid the siege of the city. Those weeks were hard, with continued waves of Orks trying to take that hill. In the last days, the guards of the city lost contact with the hill, but they can see how the Orks continued attacking it. When the reinforces arrived, the Orks fled. The Governor went to the hill to congratulate and give thank to the Marines, but when he arrived, he saw that the Marines fought until the last man. All of them died to save the city of Betis. The city of Betis built a mausoleum in that rocky hill to honor those Marines who give their lives to save them." Sorry about my English EDIT: Not to worry... I made few minor misspelling corrections! - MordheimerThat's the story of a scenery I'm working on | |

Ahi te dejo... me voy a llorar a otro lado... necesito pintar! Puta mierda... que envidia te tengo, Antonio! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PS: Pues ni tan borracho... porque todavía tengo precencia de mente para poner acentos y editar los horrores errores! | |

| Ohhh man... sorry! I need to translate this. I was... errr... tipsy? Hhehehe... - Quote :
- My brother... I have drank a bottle of wine, so I have no inhibitions... {censored} Really you went too far... I imagine the amount of {censored} work you have done to create the rocks of those cliffs. EXCELLENT! Now that you have achieved perfection, you have a new chance of {censored} up everything. HA! I'm such {censored} ... hehehe... in any case, here are some pictures of cliffs for inspiration!
[PICTURES]
More pics here ... link. In any case, I think it is crucial that you put some vegetation. Based on your story, this is like a mausoleum (haha! What a {censored} Of course is a mausoleum! DUH!) What I mean to say is that the place is scared... not recent battle damaged and decades (or centuries) have passed and it is not like someone has tied themselves to clean the cliffs of weeds! There sure be some natural growth over solid rock. Less is more. Some weeds here and there should make the correct effect. After that, the mausoleum should have some time weathering.
I leave you with that... I'm going to cry to another place... I need to paint! {censored} {censored}... I envy you, Antonio! I'm a pathetic little man!

| Nice one. How the rocks where made? Only sharp blade and then filed? Some hot wire cuts? Or alternative use of that glue gun from last picture? | |

| A really impressive piece the way it's coming together is superb - statues lining the route up to the mausoleum would be the way to go for me. i'm intrigued to see this piece finished. Laney | |

Laney mmmm good idea, i was thinking in a small wall of stone, but some statues could be good, but, where i get the statues?? maybe some marines of the "stelar crusade" (i was thinking in use one of them to make a tomb in the inner of the chappel. Mord, is a mausoleum, not a fortress, dont think cannons will fit there

| THREE ways to get statues... 1) Get Tactical Marines and paint them like STONE. Stonewall Grey, drybrush concrete grey and codex gray. Works well for 'small' statues'. You could also do bronze statues... a SM model painted bronze with an then some patena (verdigris)... see Laney's AMAZING Tutorial! I did some following his teaching... so easy that you will get angry that you never figured out how to do it by yourself before! 2) You could get some Textured Paint and apply to your SM models. When I was building Mikelopolis (I just remember how pathetic my life is... since I have not finished!) I used this technique. Check my OLD post (LINK). By the end you will see the results on the giant statue... - Quote :
I wanted to give the statue a tactile AND visual aspect, to imitate granite stone. To me, the sculpture should be rough stone (like granite), rather than smooth stone (like marble.) I went to the hardware store (I guess you could find them on arts & crafts store) and got a 'stone texture' spray paint. It is VERY weird. Not this one, but the idea is the same. This type of paint (LINK) kindda 'spits' textured components. The one I got was VERY coarse... I should have gotten one with smaller grain.
First, I primed the model black. Then I covered the bolter with tight plastic. I gave several LIGHT coats of the textured paint... light so the details were not obscured (the size of the grain took care of that! ) After 24 hours, I inked the statue with brown wash. After it dried (24 hours) some drybrushing layers it with greys, bone white & black was in order. The final touch was a VERY light coat of textured paint. Then I proceeded to paint the bolter with golds and metallics.
In retrospect, if I used a smaller grain I could had skipped the dry-brushing. I have a 2nd Inquisitor model (Artemis) which I plan to make a statue using smaller grain.

3) You can get a hold of GW's Honored Imperium terrain set! I think this is a GREAT statue... and the Aquila's are not too shabby! Here is GW's Tutorial on painting them (LINK) which is VERY nice. Too bad GW insists in hiding their articles... hehehe... Good luck, mi hermano! Keep us posted!
