| I just got this news by email. GW is promoting their hobby stuff (brushes, painting station, etc.) LINK While I think lots of stuff is over priced (I'm sorry... 2 Kolinsky Sable brushes, a varnish and a metal case for $55? ), there is a real gem... at least to me. The Eavy Metal Masterclass Book (LINK) At $30, it just seems over-priced... but it has 96 pages of full color painting guides. I can deal with their step by steps, so I like it. Granted this is a bunch of articles from White Dwarf... but since I stopped even looking at the Giant-Ad-For-The-Latest-Release-Magazine for a long time, this is something I want. - Quote :
- For aspiring painters and veterans alike, this 96-page, full-colour book is a compilation of the very best 'Eavy Metal Masterclass articles showcased in White Dwarf. Featuring:
- Joe Tomaszewski's Captain Cato Sicarius - Joe Tomaszewski's Skulltaker - Darren Latham's Ork Warboss - Keith Robertson's Chaos Lord on Daemonic Steed - Neil Green's Wolf Guard - Neil Green's Elrond, Master of Rivendell - Anja Wettergren's Urien Rakarth (exclusive to this book) - Joe Tomaszewski's Vermin Lord - Kornel Kozak's Daemon Prince - Neil Green's Dark Elf Dreadlord - Joe Tomaszewski's Chaos Lord - Fil Dunn's Mordor Troll - Darren Latham's The Sanguinor
The book also includes two 'Eavy Metal painting techniques on directional lighting and non-metallic metals, and five 'Eavy Metal Showcases, which show off a choice selection of beautifully painted miniatures, ranging from Marius Leitdorf to Castellan Crowe. Each painting guide is at least six pages long and comes complete with detailed stage-by-stage pictures and tips to help you along the way. What do you think?

| One of my buddies has the previous version. It's cool, I've taken several things from it. However, you can find ALL of those techniques in tutorials online. If you want them together in a book, it's a neat gift, for sure. I wouldn't mind finding it beneath the Christmas tree. | |

| It would be a great gift if I didn't feel a compulsion to buy the Giant AD Magazine by GW every month still and had all of the articles you mentioned. I do have the basic GW miniature painting guide and I still find it useful.

Give me a sunday and I'll scan them of the last decade! It's pretty much that, yes. So if you want to put in the time or already have the WD's mentioned, no need to buy it. But if you don't have have the articles, nor do you feel like investing a lot of time... it's a good alternative.

| Exactly. I do NOT have the Gint-Ads, and while I could hunt them down some scans (I'm looking at you Gatlag!) then I would have to have them print in good paper and full color. That would be more than $30. Something like that I want to have digitally.... but I also need to have physically. I would probably get a pdf (hehehehe...) but I would definitely buy a copy. Pretty pictures! | |

| To prevent more PM's about the subject: I don't have the Eavy Metal Masterclass book in PDF so don't ask me for it! | |
