| Here is my WiP Catachan Death Squad. As you may have guessed from the topic title, they are based on action hero film stars and general bad asses! Captain Arnie All the models have neodymium magnets in their arms, torsos and backs so I can change their weapons as a campaign progresses. My 3 officers: Sly, Snake and Willis Heavy weaopns specialists Ving and Wesley, and field medic Turk The recruits: Micky, Christian, Bear and Ray I'll post pics of the finished squad soon as I have them done. | |

| Nice! I like the camo... very effective. I know is WiP, so here are some suggestions. Maybe a light wash/ink with brown/flesh over the skin. It would help you define muscle and features. That or continue the 'dirt' that Christian (Recruit) has! Finally, do not forget to base these guys... they look GREAT!!!! | |

| Looking good. I like the theme for the squad. Good job with magnetizing the models. You will probably find that during a campaign you will always have a few models of certain equipment loadouts (ex. guy with a flamer, recruits with lasguns, etc) and can get away without magnetizing the arms on every grunt to save a bit of time. | |

| Thanks guys,
I was trying a couple of different washes to see how they looked over the bronzed flesh. As you noticed Mordheimer, Christian has a devlin mud wash to make him look dirty, whereas a couple of the others have gryphone sepia. Ill probably go for a mixture of the 2 washes, for some dirty darker areas, and some cleaner looking ones.
It wasn't to much bother magnetising the arms, with a hobby drill it takes litteraly 30 seconds to fit a magnet!

| Cool squad - nice to see a mix of skin tone for once!
Mord was spot on with the need for a bit more of a wash on the skin, as was Narcissus - fair play for all that magnetising. Nice jungle camo. One question: what green did you use on the jackets (the bottle green colour)?
Once based these guys are set to go.
Cheers Laney:D | |

| one tip I have for painting skin (that i have found the easiest, is to do a white undercoat, then a dark brown wash, not a skin wash, as I find these too orange...then go over the raised areas with dwarf flesh, then to highlight add some bleached bone to the mix, always leave some of the previous colour behind so you get a nice transition and not all one colour I might do a small tutorial on skin painting, as it is something that I used to hate doing! but now I find it easy and so simple! | |

| Nice one Stryke, I'll give that a go.
Laney, the green is just straight Dark Angels green on top of black. I'll probably leave it one colour for a contrast to the camo, same with the brown vests too.
And I've still to do camo paint on skin so it doesn't stand out so much!
