The hunt for captain Arachas Empty
PostSubject: The hunt for captain Arachas   The hunt for captain Arachas I_icon_minitimeFri Oct 19, 2012 4:29 am

Planet: Semper

Location: Ruined Sanctus, Death Lane, city of Aeterna

A pale moon rose over the remnants of Aeterna. One of the city’s most dangerous areas, Death Lane, had just been the scene of a brutal conflict between two old enemies: the Cadian captain Arachas and the renegade major Sturmm. While all hell and sheer madness had broke loose, Sturmm took a shot in the neck and went down. The squad however did not show any sign of faltering and kept pressing forward to attack Arachas’ men. The Cadians tried to make a stand but in the end were no match for Squad Sturmm. They fled the field of battle like the coward dogs they are. When the dust had settled and the smell of Cadian fear had dissipated, Squad Sturmm set up camp in the ruined Sanctus. Night was falling.

“How are the men?”

“A little uneasy I would say”, Brutus Mercilus, the squad’s enforcer, replied to Sturmm’s question. “I guess they thought you were done for”.

“Pah! A mere scratch, that’s all”, Sturmm said. “Did we get that bastard Arachas or what?”

“I’m afraid they all legged it, even their heavy wounded. Ha! I’ll be damned; I’ve never seen Cadians move out so fast! There was no chance for us to take any prisoners, sir”.

“Well, ain’t that just too bad…” Sturmm slowly walked towards his enforcer and stopped in front of him, his face just inches away from that of Brutus. In a low voice and with an appalling breath Sturmm added: “You make sure you get me one the next time we hunt those pansies down… You hear me?!”

Brutus just nodded. Thinking it would be best to say nothing at all now.

Sturmm’s eyes were pinning the Enforcer in place and the major whispered: “You better get going then. Find me that sissy Cadian Rapier Squad. I want to hurt them… A lot”

And while the moon lit Death Lane, Brutus took off with a new scout meathead, aptly named Pulpa, to seek out the whereabouts of Arachas’ Rapier Squad.

Sturmm watched them as they went when he heard a rustling sound behind his back. He turned around and looked upon sergeant Barbie. She was one ugly mean … some sort of …”woman”. Sturmm grinned: “Aah, ain’t you a pretty sight… Take off your clothes; it’ll be some time before he gets back…”

TO BE CONTINUED…

October 26: will Sturmm finally be able to finish off his all time opponent Arachas or will Arachas escape his fate just once more? Keep your eyes peeled for the report and don’t forget to watch your back!

A dimly lit bar was the scene. In the far back corner, a man, dressed as an Imperial officer, was downing his umpteenth glass of an undrinkable local alcohol. He looked unkept, to say the least.

Another man approached him. From his looks another officer, but in this case neatly dressed and with a confident stride. Taking off his officer's cap, he sat down across the table from the first man.

"That bad, huh?" he asked.

The drunk officer looked up with bloodshot eyes. "Corintus... is that you?"

"Yes, Arachas, it's me."

"Are you here to relieve me of my command?"

A palpable silence fell.

"Yes," said Corintus. "Yes, I am."

Arachas said nothing, but poured himself another glass from an almost-empty bottle. Corintus didn't want to know how many bottles had gone before.

"Fine," said Arachas.

"Look, Bel... I didn't want this. The general saw fit to replace you... and can you really blame him? You're taking this entire business with Sturmm far too personally."

Arachas shot him an angry look, but said nothing.

"It's about containing Chaos on this planet, not about your personal vendetta with this criminal."

"But it IS personal," growled Arachas. "And I guarantee you he is on his way, right now, to kill me."

Corintus raised his eyebrows.

"Are you sure? I do have my squad standing by outside."

Arachas grunted. "You're going to need them
."

Dawn.

“Now aіn’t we the busy lot”‚ Brutus thought.

Under cover of the nіght he and Pulpa had found a perfect spot to spy on the Cadіans and theіr actіvіtіes. A medіum sіze troop carrіer had just landed on the mіddle of the town square of Aeterna better κnown as The Plaza.

“Hmm‚ іnterestіng…”‚ Brutus could see three men dіsembarκ the carrіer. The fіrst one was a captaіn‚ all brіght and shіny іn hіs spotless unіform looκіng around lіκe he was the Emperor hіmself. “Schoolboy”‚ was Brutus’ conclusіon.

Now the other two men to walκ off the ramp were of a different κіnd. These were sterner stuff. They appeared to be some sort of Commіssar and a heavіly scarred sergeant. Both gave the distinct іmpressіon they had seen a lot of battle. Brutus κnew that these were the type of warriors that could pose a serious challenge.

“Just peaches …”

Brutus heard a sound behind him coming from the left. He was reaching for his κnіfe when he realіsed іt was Pulpa.

“Must go now”‚ Pulpa whispered. “Too brіght”.

“Yeah‚ let’s get bacκ and get dressed for the ball”‚ Brutus tooκ one more looκ at The Plaza and decided he had seen enough to please Sturmm‚ for a short while at least. He looked up to the Semper sky: іt promised to be a hot day.

“Let’s move out”.

You guessed іt guys: assassination іt іs! Tomorrow ...

"General," said the stern looking officer as he straightened his back and clacked his polished boots together.

An older looking man, sitting across from him behind a heavy durasteel desk, nodded in return. "Captain Corintus."

"Sir," said Corintus. "I have relieved Arachas of his command, as by your orders."

"Good," said the general, though his voice revealed a grimness that betrayed sympathy for the discharged officer in case. He leaned back in his chair and stroked his short, well-kept beared.

"Listen, Corintus... despite his current state of being, Arachas is a hero to the people of this planet. He will remember it again, I'm sure, despite his recent... moral downfall. Until then... we must protect him."

"Protect, sir?"

"I don't doubt that, despite our attempts to keep Arachas from harming himself and his squad any further, Sturmm will not stop until his nemesis is dead. I am sure he will attack Arachas at the earliest possibility."

Corintus nodded. "Then we must protect him."

General Masteen did not reply instantly, but cast a glance into one of the darkened corners of the office. "We will."

From the shadows, a tall figure stept. His long, black and red coat left nothing to the imagination as to what order this man belonged: he was an Imperial Commissar.

"Good day, Captain," the Commissar spoke. His voice was soft, but sharp and emitted immense authority.

"I'd like you to meet Commissar Gaius," said the general. "He has been assigned to your squad, starting today."

Corintus, not the most inexperienced of soldiers, nevertheless had to control his breathing. The relentless reputation of the Commissars was legendary.

"I am honored," he managed to say. In truth, he was terrified.

"Do not worry," said Gaius, again so softly spoken. "I am on your side... for now."

"Commissar Gaius will be a great asset to your squad, Captain," said the general, equally uncomfortable with the Commissars presence, despite his much senior rank. "I agree with the Commissariat that your squad is vital in the defeat of the renegades and as such deserves special attention. What with Arachas losing control, we cannot risk your men making mistakes now. Gaius will... see to that."

Corintus cast a sideward glance at the Commissar, who said nothing as he simply nodded. A shadow lay over his face, so Corintus could not even probe the man's expression as to clues as to what went on in that rigid mind. He hoped summary execution was not at the forefront of his thoughts.

"Very well, sirs," he said. "I will attempt to restore the glory of Rapier Squad and Cadia."
