Especially when you can get this for $219.95 and it comes with 3 SABLE BRUSHES! (not the fake sythetic shit either) (i think it's out of stock at amazon right now all i saw was the military set)

I feel awful for you buying those though. You should have asked before ordering!!!
I would use GW's foundation paints if I ever needed them I have heard they are great for basecoating and putting solid color on a model.
I have also heard good things about the new paints from GW but I can't swear by them because I'll never try them.
But as far as all other paint strictly Vallejo. Vallejo has more pigment per oz than GW's paint and goes on smoother. I had bad luck with GW drying up, also had problems with them chalking up on some models. Vallejo screw cap and dropper bottle, you can measure by drops and they don't dry up nearly as fast. I still have a few GW washes that havent' dried out but otherwise all my old gw pots make nice handles to hold my models on top of while i paint them.

I know I should of did some research first but I was excited to get the gift card! Some of my old games workshop paints dried out so I had to add some water and stir them up! I have 2, 1 ml droppers so now I add water to my paints when the paint pot is half full instead of adding water to the paint on a pallet! Plus I orderd dropper bottles for mixing my paints!

Flow-Aid is the shit. It smooths out your paint when you add it when your mixing. It doesn't lengthen wet time though. Basicly it makes your paint go further and go on better.
Slow-dri when you wanna do blending on your models too. I think it 1 part slow dri 2 parts water. You add it to your paint when your mixing. It lengthens your wet time so your paint goes on smoother and blends longer.
There is also a video here for making your own washes with liquitex product. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEkMnP6p08I&feature=BFa&list=UU0vYyCks8CDWZBHz-qtZhbA

I like different ranges for different things... I guess that isn't very helpful. Here is my input on each range I use.
Citadel: I like them as I am used to the names (but not the new ones!) and for GW minis they are the standard in most tutorials and things. The colours are pretty vibrant but there have always been missing tones in the line and I feel that the colours don't match well for highlights. The new basecoats (foundations) go on really nicely in my limited (red and yellow) experience. I really love the new Mephiston Red.
Vallejo: Really wide range of colours. I prefer dropper bottles. Seem very similar to citadel paints with more choice. Vallejo Model Air is ace for airbrushing. I really like brushing on the vallejo model air black too, as it goes on smoothly and cleans easier than GW black.
Reaper: Mixed results. I love the flesh triads and the olive green triad. The coverage is pretty bad and would work best in combination with a foundation style basecoat. The blends are really smooth but some combos (like the red) are difficult to make work.
Just my two cents. I am totally undecided myself. The only range I would buy every colour in is vallejo model air...

I'm beginning to be a convert to Vallejo. The citadel paints have some really nice colors (the old range mechandite red especially) but I find that they are found in the Vallejo range too.
I actually use Vallejo Air for ordinary painting too, as they are reallywell thinned down, and that fits my painting style great. (I actually think I have a painting style now!).
The Vallejo Air Metal range are truly amazing in my opinion as the have really really good coverage and are easily applied as they are pre-thinned =) and can be thinned down 1:1 without problems in my experience.
My goal is to have all the paints from Vallejo and from Vallejo Air, as the droplet tubes are just awsome and more economic in terms of usage.
I just looked at the new Citadel range, and they got a step closer to the Reaper Triads, which I think are a really great idea. (But I have not tried the Reaper range as there are no local sellers of the stuff).

I'm a citadel paint user (still have some old school early 90s pots). The new paints are much better in the main than the previous ones and the base coats are very pigment heavy (even the yellow). My only complaint is the glossy nature of some of the shade paints (washes).
The main reason for using citadel is that the shop is 15 minutes away and other than online I have no idea where to get hold of vallejo paints. I do use some paints for specialist uses e.g. humbrol rust/cardinal red, tamiya clear red/smoke etc.
I need to try the vallejo paints and see what I'm missing!
Cheers Laney

Komfritten-Which Vallejo Model Air metallics do you have and use? I have rust (more like a bronze, don't really like it) and gun metal (very nice coverage and colour). I use the gun metal to brush on instead of boltgun metal just now as I find it is much smoother.

I'd second (third, fifth?) the Vallejo paint recommendation and I'd add a recommendation for Secret Weapon Washes. They're wonderful.

s4dfish-I'd be curious to hear a bit of a review on Secret Weapon Washes. I have two (heavy body black and baby poop) and haven't found them all that great so far. Your thoughts on how to get the most out of them would be great. I've heard good things about them.

Caveat before I start, I've only been painting a year and most of what I've 'figured out' may well be common knowledge or completely wrong.
My understanding of the washes is that they are ink based, not pigment based, (Valelejo and GW washes are pigment based) so you're going to tinting underlying layers rather than putting down new layers. What this tells me is that I need to start with lighter basecoats than I normally would and use the washes to build up the color.
Both of the Corporation models in my second batch of pictures here are almost entirely done with the washes (silver basecoat on the metallic peices is the only non-wash). I prime white, do a watered down black ink wash (definition and shading) then let the washes do the rest. It's a dirtier technique, but I think can make a much more organic look.
FWIW, I think Baby Poop (best paint name ever) over a light, almost white, green makes the best Orc skin.
[e] striking out the 'why', further research indicates I'm completely wrong.
