| I'm looking to start up an Imperial Renegades squad, I have a few un-mutated models sorted (no squad listing as yet) & I was hoping to use one of my WIP conversions as one of the officers. His left arm is one of the mutations from the GW mutations sprue (the one with the blade kinda like a Tyrannid)...if I pay the cost for him to carry a sword, can that represent the blade on his wrist?
If so, would the mutation have to be rolled for as with all other mutations under the "Will not work for Chaos" rule?

| Basically this is a question you have to decide in your gaming group. Some players love to convert everything to WYSIWYG-level, others are content with rather generic models. In the case of a mutated arm with a mutated blade I don't see any problems. It's chaos and not every mutation will look the same.
For your second question, when starting a new squad you can decide which mutations you want and buy them. Random mutation rolls come only later in the campaign, when you level up.

| I agree 100% with Skraag! I personally think is AWESOME to use a 'mutated' arm as a sword.... but if your group is super WYSIWYG, there maybe problems.
When recruiting, you choose mutations. After that... you are at the mercy of the Dark Gods!

| Ahh okie dokie, cheers Guys =]
When choosing mutations when you start out, are you still limited to the ones you can acquire later in the game, that can be found under the IR details?

| Bingo!!! You can do them now... you get to CHOOSE the mutations. Dozer explained this to me as... - Quote :
- Mutant #1 goes to the front desk.
"Errr... is this where I can sign up? I hear you guys are looking for... errrr... special people?" "Sure. What you got kid?" "My eyes... they are kindda bulgie. I can see very well for afar and...." "SHUT UP FREAK!!! We don't like your bulging eyes kind. NEXT!"
Mutant #2 walks in and pounds his three fists on the table. "You bitches better not mess with me... I had not had my coffee yet!!" "Sir, we have rules over the hiring process..." Mutant #2 spits acid at the man from one of his two heads, while the other rolls his eyes in disgust. "AGGGHHHH!!! My face is melting!!!"
The Commander pokes his head from his office and moves his tiny reading glasses down his nose. "You are hired kid, I like your style. Why don't you go and spit on Bulgy-Eyes boy... he is trying to give me the evil eye." Hhehehe... basically you get to choose which mutants you want on your Squad. After that, you are at the mercy of the Dark Gods.

| haha that's pretty funny Awesome, so anything goes as long as it's at recruitment =] This is my first foray into Chaos so it's all new territory...having loads of ideas about what I could add to this lowly lil mutant though! At the moment I'm thinking some Devil horns on his helmet and more crossbow bolt tip spikes on his shoulder ^^ Here's some WIP pics, sorry about the bad quality, but my mobile phone's better than my camera! Front view (including repairs with Green Stuff!): Left arm view (will include more spikes soon): Underside of Pistol (Militia box set): Top of Pistol: | |

| NICE! Even with the blurry pics... the model is coming out SUPER! The crazy-mutated pistol-hand is very cool! He looks very muscular... kindda screams to me "SHOT ME... or you will regret it!" Ohhhh.. nice fingernails. You could be a nail-model... I bet good money that your thumbnail is your BEST feature! Also... do you know that we have a Special Character named Mathias? He is a bad-ass sniper! He is on TLRB v0.4.4... but his final version is on the upcoming TLRB! You are already famous... I made a Special Character after myself. His name is Firefly. Can you find him on TLRB? | |

| haha first off, thanks for the slightly creepy compliment! I think this is the longest I've spent working on a single model! I spied him when I read through TLRB first but I just had a look for Firefly...not a nice way to die! haha | |

| Nice model - what's the base mini that you used for it? That arm part from the chaos spawn seems to fit it just right on it. (the models I have tried this with always look silly!) Cheers Laney | |

| The best part of this thread is that is like a puzzle... the picture gives you enough information for you to know it WOKRS... but hard to see where the bits came from. Great puzzle! | |

| hehe well, when I bought it from a local flea market, the mutation was already part of the model, so I can't take all the credit unfortunately =[ The base model is an Orc from the Lord of the Rings game produced by GW, as seen in the back with the red ring around it... The mutation doesn't quite fit perfectly, but I think I might set myself a challenge & build it up a bit with green stuff just so there's no gaps in his armpit =] | |

| Necromunda Orlock gangers
love the shot gun minis, the other has an autogun
could be used as catchans or cultists.
IR are great their sergeants are fantastic close combat fighters with the different types of mutations but its hard to get them all the good ones at first.
I usely go for the scorpion tail, extra arm, daemonic possesion and arm him up with a pistol and sword [boltpistol and chain sword if and when I get the credits to do so]
second one has two heads, extra arms and cloud of flies. will hopefully get daemonic possesion later on depending on how my rolls go.
as for the huge mutation just not sure about that mutation. it does make your officer easier to hit and harder to wound. But the enemy player can now target him over smaller targets due to his size....just not sure if its worth it...
keep the conversions coming I am redoing an IR squad at the moment.....
Cheers LGW | |

| I went for the scorpion tail for my Commander...only thing I had to hand was a Skaven tail with a hook on the end...so I'll see if I can add a poison sack as some point
I was looking at the "huge" mutation...not one I'd want to roll either! Not just because of the targetting, but I wouldn't relly know what to use as a basis for a brand new model to replace the former one =S
I'm hoping to roll for the acid spit & cload of flies for my Commander =]

| The pictures should be a little farther away. So much of a close up blurs the picture... | |

I'd use an Ogryn. Maybe a bit simplistic, but you could do a lot with the basic Ogryn mini, and make it yours with how you paint it.

| Hehehe... - Quote :
- I HAVE been in Terra boy. Have you? I know it is only 100 Light Years away... but there is no excuse for not to been there at least twice. How old are you? 16? I meant to say 3 times. Once, I stood in line for 18 months so I could shake the hand of The Holy Emperor. You know he wakes up every 78 years to take a potty break... he is human after all. Anyway, I was SO surprised... the Emperor looked like Johnny over there, except he had TWO heads and THREE arms. I swear... may a daemon spawn right here if I'm lying! {looks nervously around} Errr... as I was saying, don't worry about Johnny's skin problem... it is not virulent puss, but holy secretions. He is in-tuned with His Holiness. Now... move along.... nothing to see.
See? I can trick YOU! And counting that you are a Kalifornian Eldar, masters of deceit and power consumption, it means that ANYONE can be tricked with the right rhetoric!

| I just read an intersting story (yes, I can read. LOL) Pawn of Chaos, old 40K novel. There was a Dark Angel (should call them Green Angels) the was adrift in space for 10K years. He was pulled towards the eye of terror and placed on a planet where he met a former battle brother who had decided to work for chaos. Long story short, he traitor space marine convinced his brother that the emperor had died by Horus and that Chaos ruled.
Don't really know what this story proves but it shows that people even those who are pure can be lead astray.
