| in a far away world there are a group of eldar called warphunters and they have sensed a warp storm unlike ever known to the eldar and they want to obtain it for their uses, warp master tuh'kan and general janfro donko have been assigned to obtain it with the help from 2 of the eldars best warriors the yellow avengers and captain jakov muntov with his rifle men. tuh'kan and janfro are booth expert warriors who specialise in not only ranged combat but at being psykers. they have never fought a war like this and they know that there will be bloodshed and death, also that only one race shall prevail and obtain the warp storm, this is tuh'kan's aim the whole squad with my paint in the back lol terrible painting skills i know tuh'kan the warp master on his own general janfro donko on his own captain jakov muntov on his own the 'yellow avengers' you should understand why i called them that finally the rifle men (the based one is higher ranked but not that important) EDIT: woops missed out the based one here he is plus sorry for poor photo and poor level of painting skills | |

| Nice fluff! Leaves the people wanting more which I think's always the best way =D & I'd say once you get a bit of confidence up & experiment a bit your painting will improve a lot...the first technique I managed to get the hang of was drybrushing...now I use it on everything! Glad to see some pics Keep us posted =D | |

| Looking good man!
Pictures: scoot back and zoom with macro (looks like a flower) setting on. Helps if there is a backdrop too like a piece of posterboard or something.

| way-of-the-warrior: You need to start pussyfooting around... you do paint fairly good! Do NOT put down your work. I know... it is hard to see one's models beside such great samples (like Laney's), but you are cultivating your skills! I would be 'almost' ashamed to show my models side by side Laney's... so you are better man than me by far! Now... few painting pointers and observations, if I may. You seem to have VERY good control of the brush. That is GREAT! Forget drybrushing, highlighting, NMM, OSL, streaking or any of that stuff... without brush control, you are ALWAYS in trouble! That is the foundation... and you are making one rock solid base! BRAVO! I am also delighted of you mastery of yellow. Yellow has to be the most pathetic color to paint... it is ingreatful! The bloody color (to use some of your brit slang) is a biatch (to use some American slang) to put anywhere, specially over black! You my friend, put those pigments on their place! Great job! You have a solid base, so I can give you few easy tips... for your next level. Black is a hard color to paint... because its the ninja color. Not only Ninjas dress in black, but black also messes with other colors and deceives you in how complex it is! You can gain mastery over black, if you know the trick. I bet that your black looks 'weird'... kindda flat. It is because at such small scale, it absorbs the light and the human eye puts all the model on the same 'shade' of black... true black. Nothing on the real world, at our human-size scale, is true black... so your mind determines that the model is a miniature... not real. You can rick your eye (which is the point of miniature painting) in concluding that the model is 'human size' by artificially crating shades of black. SIMPLE TO DO! Take 2 similar models... so you get the before and after. Prepare some Grey (Fortress or even Codex... darker better) and put a SUPER LIGHT drybrush over the black. If you can see it, it is probably too much! Once it is dry (5 mins) put the two models side by side. YIKES! The difference will be astronomical! If you put too much grey (it could happen at first) you could put some black wash/ink... Once you are happy with that, you can tackle the blue. Give the blue a blue wash/ink. This will create dark recces. Once it is dry (make 100% sure is dry... give 10 mins), dry brush with the same tone of blue you use for the base. Once that is dry, drybrush again with a lighter tone of blue (you could mix some white on the base blue, but not much). With this, you have just created dark and light zones... easy techniques that launch your model to outer space! PUN... 40k? Space? Man... my jokes suck. Last but not least... BASE YOUR MODELS! It completes the illusion, and puts your guys in another level. Check out Lord GreyWolf's Arbites... they are AWESOME! Now... for the photography comments. Listen to the dysturbed!!! Look at your pictures. What is on focus? Yes... the pots of paint in the BACK. That is where your models must be; that is the distance that you NEED between the camera and the models. Check the macro (flower) setting. Laney can help you... he had similar problems, and after checking the tips the man is a pro! Lucky for us, because now we can REALLY appreciate his art! Check the Mini-photography Tutorial for other hints. Also, make sure to have a complementary background. While your pots of paint and the super babe.. HOLY SHIT; she IS topless! How can you concentrate and paint over THAT? Anyway... the super babe is VERY nice, I rather see your models (I'm addicted to plastic-crack... what a looser!) A white background would be VERY useful. Hope the hints work for you. I hope to see more pictures soon! Me? Back to the babe! | |

| Good Job, I'm looking forward to fighting these guys tonight. Nice strong colour theme. Mordheimers got it right - basing will really set these models off and his advice on adding depth to the black is good too. And just remember you've only been painting about a year or and you will improve with every miniature you paint. If you take on board the advice you are given, you can speed the process up (this site is great for it). And when I was your age (before you were born!) I was not as good at painting as you are now. Cheers Laney | |

| Don't feel at all bad about your painting. There is no way that anything could look worse than my tyranids . I had a brush with about five bristles and about three almost dried up horribly glossy paints. It took me an hour to paint them and they looked worse once I was finished with them than they started out. The colour scheme looks good black and yellow look fantastic together. You have managed to pick up some really small details (remember the models are about the size of the top half of your thumb). Your painting will definitely improve (mine certainly has) and since you've started out this good you're soon going to be producing works of art. @ precentor_james: - Quote :

does have a younger following! She must be a genius there is no way I would have been able to understand these rules at 7 let alone 5!
