| I have my imperial renegades force modelled and I am having trouble settling on a good color scheme to paint them. The bodies are mostly cadian with conversions and bare heads.
So far the models have: -dark green fatigues -pale skin -black weapons highlighted with greys -brown leather boots and bags -scorpion green OSL from helmet eyes and power weapons
I want them to look dark and gritty but also to have enough contrast and color to look interesting.
I am stuck on how to paint the armour and shoulder pads. Different ideas: -black armour with metal chips, highlighted grey -bleached bone, worn white armour (might look too light) -metallic armour with heavy rust -stained white armour (I am having trouble painting it effectively though...)
Any advice for a color scheme would be appreciated. I am feeling pretty stuck.
Thanks!

| A dark orange could be nice, this can also be achieved by a heavy rust effect. | |

| Hmmm. Yes, a thick rust effect could look nice. A darker theme but would add some color. Any tips for how to do it on larger sections like shoulder pads and chest plates?
Maybe boltgun metal, badab black wash, devlan mud wash x2, sponging bestial brown, vermin brown, highlight with orange a little....
If anyone has a link to a tutorial on a more brown, oxidized rust that would be very helpful...
I am thinking about making the group fairly ragtag. Have all of the models use the same general colors but mix it up a lot for variety. This would also allow me to experiment with lots of different techniques.

| Unfortunately I don't have the colors here for desert camo. I also don't really like the look as they will be urban fighters.
For fatigues I want to stick with either grey or dark green...
