| I've just seen an ace modelling and painting blog called Honour and Duty and it has some ace ideas for Amphibious Demolition Spec Ops... http://paramedstudent.wordpress.com/ I'm going to start with one such spec ops demolition guy (pics and fluff to follow). Cheers Laney | |

| Welcome Honour and Duty! What I really liked was how original the ideas were - I'd seen lots of spec ops forces, but not an amphibious unit. It was a great modelling opportunity and perfect for my prisoner. I have an idea for a mini-diorama, but we'll see how it goes. Photos in a day or two. Cheers Laney | |

| Here is the WIP of my Imperial Guard Captain of the Amphibious Spec Ops Regiment - The 2nd Cerulan 'Platypuses'. A little about Cerulan... Cerulan is a primarily water world consisting of 90% water (in the form of shallow seas), with continents consisting of three significant island chains stretched around the equatorial region of the planet. There are also two non-continental ice caps at either pole. The shallow seas are rich in life and in usual circumstances would make for a valuable agriworld (providing high protein food sources), however many of the organisms are incredibly dangerous, resulting in the designation of Cerulan as a Deathworld. The islanders on Cerulan (numbering an estimated 13.9 million) are all highly skilled at surviving in the environment, so much so that some Imperial Guard commanders regard them as 'Wet Catachans'. Due to their low population, Cerulan has a low Imperial Guard tithe, but provides the most skilled amphibious troops the sector can offer. Most Cerulani (amongst other adaptations) are born with webbing between their feet and toes. They also have very high myoglobin levels in their muscles (similar to the diving mammals of ancient Terra), which allow them to stay underwater for as long as twenty minutes. Plus, their eyes have an additional clear membrane (eyelid), which can cover their eyes while diving (providing excellent vision underwater). (They are so perfectly adapted to the Cerulan conditions, while retaining the basic human body form, that some Magos Biologus of the Adeptus Mechanicus suggest they were genetically modified during the Dark Age of Technology) Cheers Laney | |

| I wonder how many of those CCS boxes you gathered over the last few years, Lanes. Almost each squad you do has bits of it in them. | |

| Every new squad starts with at least one of each! The bits are just too good (plus the cadian box is only fair and the catachan box is just hideous!). | |

| The names of the prisoner and his companion... Captain Maui Kewalaka and Sergeant Rata Henare The Sergeant carries a silenced Welrod Mk 50V laspistol and a Cerulan Pattern Harpoon Gun (counts as shotgun). I modelled his air tank differently and left off the flippers as the model had already got pretty crowded. Any thoughts...? Laney | |

| Those are great. The masks look very nice. The straps are great. The flippers and fantastic. Very, very nice. I am looking forward to seeing them painted up.
Did you see Warboss Kurgans Mermaid diorama? You could do a crazy one with one of your models underwater!

| Love the work so far! Curious to see what colour scheme you go with - will you paint them as if they are on open ground, or will you paint them as if they were underwater? | |

| Thanks guys - I had an idea to have them coming out of the water and dealing with a few chaos renegades in their path (have the prisoners as removable of course). I have some clear resin that would be perfect for the water and at least one of the frogmen could be wading.
I'll need to look up the mermaid diorama.

| Hi Guys - Well the diorama is off the cards (the kitchen is taking a little longer than expected). However, the prisoner is completed. The painting is ok, but I lack practice (maybe I'll finish off a few more pieces now though). I've used too many spot colours, which don't tie together, but overall I'm happy with the result. Parts list... Catachan C-Squad head Cadian respirator Pipe from Dragonforge games Tank from cadian flamer Knife from space marine bike scout Body/legs from catachan C-Squad Space marine plasma pistol RT space marine knife Catachan arms (also C-Squad) Flippers, mask, buoyancy jacket etc GS Thoughts always welcome LANEY | |

| If I have to give some criticism it would be the yellow tank. It's a great dirty yellow but a spec ops soldier would never use such a bright colour. He would be target practise for the bad guys. But other than that he's really cool | |

Maybe it's the reason why he got captured and became prisoner. On the other hand, it makes him more badass He's really courageous, isn't he?

| I personally like the tank, and if he's carrying a plasma pistol he's not going to be particularly inconspicuous anyway! | |
