My Inquisitor and his retinue (Imperial Guard Style) Empty
PostSubject: My Inquisitor and his retinue (Imperial Guard Style)   My Inquisitor and his retinue (Imperial Guard Style) I_icon_minitimeMon May 10, 2010 7:34 pm

Well, my Eldar squad is taking a hiatus. After the third game against Sammi, she still won, but I caused so many casualties that she could not replace them all. So, in order to re-handicap myself, so to speak, I am generating a new squad!

I got started in this universe with Inquisitor, and I wanted to revisit that sort of squad dynamic, so I decided to make something along those lines. I have some pre-painted Rackham miniatures that I like to use for Inquisitors that I have been itching to use even since I started Death Squads, so I set about trying to figure out a way to make my retinue using existing rules. Existing rules are important, as I am both too lazy to make my own, plus I want to be able to give feedback and help playtest this cool game.

Then it hit me, duh. Imperial Guard. See, since I wanted my Inquisitor to be a low level, low resource, investigatory type, he would not have access to the bulk of the really wierd stuff the inquisition field, and since I don't like playing Psykers, I don't have to worry about the fact that the imp guard is a mundane force. Plus, I can make the Inquisitor and his retinue have a very Heriticus, custom vibe, by just tweaking the fluff a little bit. Fluff I can tweak, rules, not so much!

So here it is, I think I have obeyed all of the rules, but this is only the third squad I have assembled, and the first Imp, so let me know if I missed something...

Officers:

Inquisitor (captain): Flamer Pistol, Power Sword, Flak Jacket 103 Points
Acolyte (Lt.) : Sword, Flame Pistol 71 Points
Acolyte (Lt.) : Sword, Flame Pistol 71 Points
Guard Veteran Henchman (Sgt.): Auto Rifle, Auto Pistol 69 Points
Guard Veteran Henchman (Sgt.): Auto Rifle, Auto Pistol 69 Points

Recruit Group 1:

Crusader Henchmen (Infantry) x4: Sword, Combat Shield, Mesh Armor 292 Points

Total 675 Points
Stash 25

I don't have any pics of the particular figs I was thinking of using, but here are the ones from Rackham's site...
My Inquisitor and his retinue (Imperial Guard Style) RKCOG10
For Inquisitor and Acolytes

My Inquisitor and his retinue (Imperial Guard Style) RKCOG07
For Veteran Guard Henchmen

My Inquisitor and his retinue (Imperial Guard Style) RAKGREL01p
For Crusader Henchmen.

As always, let me know what you think, and if I have any rules errors and/or math errors. Both are more than possible.

Cool idea! Eventually we WANT to make an Inquisitor Squad... but until then, your IG Squad-bash will do the trick! Just Kidding

Your guys seem to pack a punch! Well done! I would suggest giving autopistols to the Recruits... you have the cash, and that way they can do something long range. The models seem VERY fitting too!

Nice idea, though I would suggest looking for the older Rackham Metal models if you can. They are better quality than the plastics - but becoming harder to come by - the lions of alahan and griffon fusiliers and particularly good.

Thanks, I prefer metals, and I honestly prefer painting my own minis, but I am so very broke, and so so very lazy, that prepainted plastics end up doing a lot of work for me. I am hitting GW store tomorrow, see what kind of trouble I can get myself into there, might have more news on this front. I am also getting into a regular game, so I am going to need (yet) another squad for that. Can't have the squad I use against my 5 year old getting ranked up past her Orks.

Yeah, that's the same manufacturere, I am thinking of getting some of their UNA (right acronym?) troops for generic Imp Guard or renegade type cannon fodder. Nothing in that line really screams 'Inquisition' to me like the Griffin guys, though.

I used the Red Block as my Imperial Guard City Fighters and I am going to buy the UNA cold weather troops for my Vahallan type that we have.

Yep, that's exactly what I was planning too. Don't know if you've found this site yet... Miniature Market They have the lowest prices on the web that I have seen!

Another one that I have not seen anyone do, though it seems obvious, is use Therians as Necron. I mean honestly...

I just purchased a few more red block from Miniature Market also. LOL. That is where I will more than likely buy the rest.

Did you see the Oni vehicles? I need to get some of those for the death squad vehicle rules.

Yeah, I like those, but my budget is so limited, and my interests so diverse, that it is hard to focus and get a coherent army put together. I did a bad thing today and bought myself some Tau. Like I needed another faction, right? Is there another squad bash in Precentor_James' future. Yes, there just might be.

Not to mention, I am about 3 battles behind in my campaign reports (wah-wah-waaaaaaaah)
