| You could use that as a familiar if you wanted that might be what you said above the picture. | |

| Yay, more varangians! Thanks for your skin recipe some how I missed it if I hadn't I would definitely have copied it. The one with the plasma gun would have to be my favorite, the pose is perfect and the plasma gun looks great connected to the back pack how did you do that? The guy with the standard also looks fantastic. | |

| Plasma Gunner: He is an imperial priest (pretty much straight off the shelf) with a new banner. The 'pipework' is a strap hanging down.

| Here are a bunch of WIP and finished shots for the Varangians (taken quickly but in good light - so please excuse any dodgy photos) WIP pics left to right Inquisitor Achilles Cesare (new version - half painted), Assassin hired gun based on eldar dire avenger and similar in style to my prisoner exchange (needs a lot of work still), Recruit with autogun (only thing of interest are the magazines on his autogun), Recruit with heavy stubber (I may trim the length of the stubber). Inquisitor Cesare has been inspired by Deafnala's work on Da Banks Death Korps and will include no metallics in the paint job and maybe some vague attempts at NMM (which I've only done once before - and that models still not done yet!). Painted and finished models (All Varangians - but not all in use at the minute) Left to right: Commissar DeMartin, Inquisitorial Servo Skull, Sergeant Kilgore (with Hellgun), 'Doc V' Velinski (Medic), Vindicare Assassin (a stand in until my conversion is finished), Major 'Rook' Blackledge (Reismann's old senior officer in the 95th Varangians) plasma pistol and power fist), Recruit with lasgun (no name yet) Feedback always appreciated Cheers Laney | |

| Hi All, Just a quick post of my second urban fighter in a camo suit (The industrial yellow black and metal piece on the base denote the 'actual' position of the recruit). Always love constructive feedback Ta Laney | |

| These Guys ROCK! GREAT choice of colors...the skin tones, in particular, are VERY WELL DONE! I think the Inquisitor is my favorite. | |

| Thanks guys - always nice to get positives! Deafnala: The inquisitor is all about taking some ideas from your work and applying it to how I paint - glad you like it (another layer or two to go and he will be done). He's the limited edition Gideon Lorr that keeps cropping up on ebay - you can just feel him marking out the next heretic! (beautiful sculpt - almost as nice as the Ordo Xeno inquisitor from forgeworld). More on its way - the Varangians will be finished soon and then Mordheimer can get his individual and squad pics - I've already got a new IG squad forming in my head - my prisoner exchange model has a possible colour scheme for them - grey, orange and black stripes (I'll paint up a test model when I get time - as I can't do anything about my truescale marines - parts not arrived yet ). Glad the original suggestion (wow... it was WAY BACK!) worked for you. Of course, you took it to a new level... but that is typical of you! | |

| ISH: Thanks for your comment, it worked out well - I think (it was a while ago now) that Dozer and Mordheimer came up with that between them (he's finally a usable model - rather than a mini diorama). Mordheimer: It did take a while (stripes are slightly wonky though). Kiwi: I'll see what I can do (I'm thinking of using the Space Hulk style power sword painting for my blood angels (it looks like crackling energy on the sword). So maybe I can include both - might take a while though. For now, here's the formula for you to try out... Base ColourBlack undercoat on the sword (I almost always use black undercoat as a personal preference) Necron Abyss basecoat Layer with Mordian blue (leave the necron abyss showing in the darker recesses) Then (and you can vary this to suit taste/paints)...Enchanted blue heavy drybrush Hawk turquoise lighter drybrush (for me this is an essential stage - it creates the power field look) This last bit was suggested by Mordheimer and Drizzt to improve the original 'Ice Cold' Reismann model (and it worked)Ice blue highlight on the edges (with fine strikes only the edge of the blade) Skull white fine higlight on the edges (with very light strikes along the blade edge) Some pics to show you how close the Varangians are to completion! Sorry for the rubbish pics - I took them quickly this morning under awful lighting Cheers Laney | |

| You can always use good old fashioned paint mixing - simply build up the blue, lighter and lighter from a dark blue base. The Hawk turquoise (or similar) is a useful colour to get for this process as it helps to add depth. I'll do a proper tutorial at some point. Cheers Laney | |

| Thanks dwi! Good to hear from you . I'll finish these guys once and for all when my first truescale blood angel is fully painted (taken me three days so far - this is why I never have a competitive army and therefore love so much). Then there are five more and a terminator, furioso librarian dreadnought (might just leave that till later though), other half finished projects/squads (the renegades for example) and a special project that no one can know about (just in case I never actually do it!). I paint plenty of dodgy models I just don't post them here! Cheers Laney | |
