| Also I want to ask... what SPECIFIC IG Regional Platoon are you making? I soon have to prepare the Eye P kers (Catachan Jungle Fighters)... so I will face a similar dilemma! | |

| Actually I'm going to disagree with Mordheimer and suggest something else. I would rather spend the points on a boltgun rather than a bolt pistol.
Reaon being 1) that it has a longer range 2) it has a rapid fire setting.
Chainswords are great, but it puts you in a very VERY precarious position after you kill you initial target. It is rare that you charge someone that is standing alone (alone as in no one within 8" of your intended target). So that means that even though you may kill your target, you leave your captain way out in the open as a very....inticing target. Therefore you risk loosing him to exponential degree.
So you are looking at the bolt pistol instead. Well compare the bolt pistol to the boltgun. The boltgun has a longer range, and within 12" it fires 1 more shot, unless you stood still. The only advantage that the bolt pistol has over the boltgun is to use it when in hand-to-hand, which is the last place you want you leader to be in.

| I'm playing Catachans... if you can (and want) play Jenkala's Urban Fighters. Tell us how they play. | |

| hey, just popping a question in here (as not to make a new topic just for one quick question). What is the difference between the different imperial guard regiments in Death Squad? I can not seem to find anything in the rules about this.
AS for what to buy for the captain, bolter without a doubt. Why? Just ebcause Imperial guardsmen with bolters look to bad a**.

| The difference is that certain regions have special rules & Hired Guns associated with them...for example the Catachans specialise in jungle warfare, therefore they get bonuses to their cover saves in jungle terrain & are able to re-roll once during a combat when rolling to wound. The Death Korps of Krieg's officers are immune to fear. Each of the Regional Platoons have their advantages compared to the others, the choice is yours to determine which one would fit your style best | |

| They get an extra 100 credits when forming the squad...because you don't have to pay to take a regional platoon choice & they have a maximum squad size of 20 So they do get bonuses =] | |
