| Thanks everyone. The heads are quite nice. I am looking forward to painting them up. I've finally finished painting some models. These three are for da Bank. Two boys with two hand weapons and a grot with a pea shooter/short bow. This boy is from the WHFB 6th edition box. I just gave him an eye patch and a peg leg. I quite like the expression on the face of this chap. I tried a new recipe for painting the skin. I wanted some nice contrast, but not too bright, and wanted the blends to be smooth enough to avoid it completely looking like a watermelon. The grot. Just two more to finish and then I can post this lot off to da Bank. Comments and criticisms appreciated as always. | |

| The new recipe worked out brilliantly - the areas around the face where you've gone lighter in paticular.

| Thanks Laney. The base is the new Waaagh Flesh. It is a bit bluer than I usually use but I am pleased with the end result. I did the lightest highlights on just the face for emphasis. It might end up looking a bit chalky on the entire model. | |

| Here is a model I am slowly working on the be the nob for this little crew. I also airbrushed a basecoat on the octopus. I think I need to do another lighter shade too though. Thoughts? | |

| Your work is amazing!
The octopus... looks nice. The suckers should be the lighter tone, then you could make some 'iridescent' reds/browns on top.... yellow eyes!

| Wow. After a long delay, here are the finished pirate orks for Da Bank. These boys will be jumping into a box and making their way down to Da Bank's gaming table tomorrow. The two nobs. My favorite I like his "power klaw" The gang Ready for action | |

| Narc: These are a work of art! I don't know what to say but thanks. I hope all the other orks, bits and etc can come in handy as they were sitting in my closet and not being used. You know Orks, they want to Waggh!!! all the time but after I get home fom work, feed the dog, eat and talk to the family I just have time for Waggh! or rampaging or pillaging anymore...maybe i am getting old. | |

| To expand on my previous commment...
The rusting on the weapons is up to your usual high standard, along with the nice rich red and chipping on the shoulder armour. The GS work blends into the GW plastic seemlessly (I love the pirate hat), but the finest part of these orks for me is the skin... Up close, you can see the layers involved, giving it an almost comic book style, which reminds me of Deafnala's painting. When you step back it all blends because of excellent colour choice (in particular going lighter and less 'gaudy' (very matt) than a lot of ork skin you see, adding to the comic book style).
In short - love it.
My only (really minor) criticisms - perhaps slightly too much orange in a couple of the rust patches (e.g. tip of the ork ard boys sword) and I'd love to see the eyes on the orks and the squig picked out.

| Thanks Laney. I really appreciate the constructive feedback. That is exactly the look for the skin I was going for. I wanted a high contrast skin tone without the fluorescent look. The final highlights look a bit "stringier" than I was intending. I was painting in less than stellar lighting and ended up having a bit higher contrast than I had intended.
The eyes are actually painted. They are just hard to see as I highlighted the bottom eye lids too. I did forget the squig eyes though... I may add a little stipple to break up that orange patch. It was bugging me too.
I will add a pic once I do that. I added a little more base detail as well.

| Some updated pictures. I added a little moss and some tufts of grass to the bases. I added a little weathering powder to the two nobs and matte varnished all of the models. Does it look much different with the weathering powder? Base details Gave him some grass too | |

| Again, wow! These are fantastic. The rust colors are great and so are the teeth and nails.
My big choppa is very cool, kinda reminds me of kill bill (in a good way).

| The little guys made it to me. The USPS was a little pissed off as it seems the band of Orks tried to create a mini Waaggh! There was some damage to a box of barbies and GI Joe's that happened to be traveling in the same USPS truck. . I had to sign a waiver that I would keep an eye on Da Orks and promise to never ship them in the mail due to their violent nature. They are in a good home and are on my book shelf to admire. Thanks Narco! | |
