| Today I was chatting with the Librarian... and I got a wacky ... a Prisoner Exchange Event! Basically, this is a voluntary event in which participants build and paint one model, send it to a randomly determined participant and receive a model from someone else! At the end, everyone gets one model from a fellow who also plays Death Squads, somewhere around the world! Pretty cool, ehh? Well, here are the rules... - All participants must be registered on the Death Squads Forum.
- This Event is open to ALL levels of hobbyists... be this your first model or you are a Golden Daemon 'regular'.
- All participants must have an updated profile, with at least an Avatar and a location where they leave (i.e. California, USA; Essex, England; Zagazig, Egypt)
- All participants must have either more than 20 (meaningful) posts OR a post of their Introduction on the Welcome Mat (including how they found out about )
- All participants must have the ability and will to take and post pictures of their model, as well as the one they receive.
- All participants will join by posting on this thread their nick, their location, favorite Squad.
- All participants agreed to ship the model, no matter where in the world... and you have to pay the shipping. Be nice!
- All models must have a practical use in Death Squads. So, no point in working out a Dragon... no dragons in !
- All models must fit on a standard 25mm base. This means no large models, which have to be based on 40mm bases!
- All participants must assemble (if applicable), convert (if applicable) and paint the model themselves. So no tricking your buddies into doing your work!
- All participants agree to do the very best work they can!
- Participants may make requests for particular models, but NO PARTICIPANT IS REQUIRED TO FULFILL THE REQUEST! This means... you can ask for something, but you may not get it!
- Participants may start working on the models they will ship at any time, but everyone will get to know the name of the person they will send the model to on May 16st.
- All models should have on the base the name of the artist accompanied by "P.E. 2010" to commemorate the event.
- Participants will ship their model to their assigned destination on June 15th (unless changed by popular demand.)
- Participants will receive a model from someone OTHER than the person they will ship the model they paint. It is THAT random... yes, I understand is not an Exchange... but this is a weird idea born out of lack of sleep and too much Deafnala!
- All participants are free to do whatever they think is good for their model. So if you think dipping is the way to go... dip away! There is no 'topic'... do whatever you like!
- Once all random matches are determined, you are to find the shipping address via Private Message (PM). Please, do NOT post your mailing address.
- Absolutely, positively NO FLAMING! We are all adults (or at least we pretend to be, even when we play with tiny plastic soldiers), so if you do not like the model you receive... BE GRATEFUL! Understand that the meaning of this event is not the models, but camaraderie and friendship! If you don't think you can be polite... do NOT participate! I catch anyone being a spoiled brat, I will ban you from the forums without warning.
Suggestions on rules are welcomed. That's about it! If you want to participate, just make sure you meet the requirements and post! The participation will be open until May 31st, and then people have two weeks to get their model shipped! Remember... this is about getting to know each other, getting a few laughs and a nice model for your Squad... which would undoubtedly make you proud of being a member of the Death Squad community! Good luck... and have fun! Community Members agreeing to participate on the Prisoner Exchange Event:- Mordheimer: Florida, USA. Will accept anything... even Eldar.
- StyrofoamKing: Virginia, USA. Will accept anything (especially if it'd make a Hired Gun... I have no idea which squad I want to make!)
- Dr!zzt: Kraków, Poland. No particular needs. All prisoners will gain their own comfortable cell... ekkkhm... shelf and found honourable death in battle Smile.
- Librarian: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'll take anything too!
- Dozer: Florida, USA. I do not need anything in return... [edit: HE LIES! He loves ELDAR!!!]
- dysturbed: Ohio, USA. [no preference]
- mudboy: Frederiksberg, Denmark. No Preference (You took the fun out of disillusioning you!)
- Lord Greywolf: Te Arhoa, New Zealand [mmmmm not sure what I want maybe eldar, Kroot, or some thing rogue traderish....]
- Skraag: Göttingen, Germany, no preferences
- 02Laney: Coggeshall, Essex, England, no preferences
- way-of-the-warrior: Essex, England, no pref (its the thought that counts)
- DeathGuard: Berkeley, California, USA. Although I'm slightly partial towards Nurgle followers, I'd love to get anything from a fellow forum-goer!
- MathiasDark: Plymouth, Devon, England. Anything's good for me, but a Space Marine (Scout), Guard Member or Renegade would be excellent!
- madprophet: New Jersey, USA. I play Guard, Chaos Marines, Tyranids and Tau so all are welcome. (With HIS luck, he gets Orks!)
- Da Bank: Florida and not picky, but I mostly play IG Squads or a Kroot. (He is another that LOVES Eldar fluff!)
- VonHagel: Copenhagen, Denmark Ork, Eldar or Space Marine preferred.
- Skeller: Lands Unknown... possibly the Warp! Play chaos renegades, chaos space marines, and orks. I'll accept anything people want to build.
- Da Eavy: England. No preference, but a slight lean toward a chaos model as I have none.
- moggd: Phoenix AZ, USA. Any squad would be fine, I really enjoy admiring any paint job. (He aims high... a Squad? )
- Kiwi: Palmerston, New Zealand. I would cherish any mini no matter what squad.
- DeafNala: Horseshoe Bay, Texas. No preference.
The last day to SIGN in will be May 16th!

| Of course I'm here! 4) Librarian: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'll take anything too! two things: @ Mord: You're insane, but like a deranged Santa! And I agree the Dr!zzt: I'll also need an extended deadline, unless you want some "less than legit" OOP models. With no GW store and high taxes, some players turn to this. | |

| List updated!
You can start in the model YOU are going to send at any time... once we decide to close the entries (May 31st) we have 2 weeks to finish the model (if you haven't done so already). The plan is to have everyone ship the models at the same time, proposed June 15th. If people think is too short... no problem, we change the shipping date.
This is going to be AWESOME!!!

| Oh, I have something to suggest: Name of the painter on the base of the model, so we can remember who painted the masterpiece for us! | |

| I'd like to contribute.....
I can put forth a couple of renegades, and Chaos Marines aplenty!!
I do not need anything in return....I have models galore with no place to put them.....
Something that I think should be changed in the "rules" is that we must declare who we are painting for....that way one person does not end up with 5 models and everyone else gets nothing.

| You ARE crazy! One model... please (but you can give ME the rest of them! Muahahahah!) AFTER the list is completed, May 31st, I will determine who is sending the model to who (randomly)... - Quote :
- Once all random matches are determined, you are to find the shipping address via Private Message (PM). Please, do NOT post your mailing address.
so you can actually start working on your model now if you want... on the 31st we will know who is exchanging with who and (unless it is changed) we all ship the fighters on June 15th. My bad it was not clear. Will fix the rules, so we are 100% clear. Also adding the name of the artist thing... PLEASE follow the instructions. We need your name, location and any 'request' (which most certainly be ignored!) No need to post what you have to offer... it will NOT matter as you don't know to whom you will send your model, nor whom will send you one! Yes, they will be different people!

| Um, it makes sense to move UP the deadline for submission (as most of us are already signed on), and keep the mail-date as is - why have 4 weeks to wait for person to be picked, and then 2 weeks to order, convert, paint, and mail? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Personally, I don't have TOO many options with the mini I'll send, but I'd like to give him/her something he can use with his squad. OH, and if every single one of us ends up with "Mordheimer" as our secret recipient, we will hunt you down and garote you. There will be place you can hide for we span the globe. | |

| HAHAHAH!!!! There goes my evil plan! Event canceled. Just kidding... the list will be public, to insure I don't cheat. I would like to have OTHER people than the regulars also join in the fun. Maybe you are right... move the submission deadline closer (May 15th) and leave the shipping date (June 15th) the same? I know what I'm going to do... heheheh... Dozer already whacked me over the head! It's a surprise... let's just say it will be very... Imperial. Capable of 'attracting' even the most devoted Commissar or Astartes Champion. Muahahahah!!! | |

| The reason is that I do NOT want to force anyone to do a Big Unit... but if you want to make an Ogryn... well, I guess the mystery recipient would be shocked. You know... like the Secret Santa... no gifts above $10, yet some people give away a $100 gift. I want to keep it simple, so everyone can participate, regardless of their painting skills. This is about having fun, making memories and getting a little something-something from someone that shares interest in the hobby. If you WANT to send a bigger model... it is OK. You do NOT have to. Whatever you want to send, so the recipient is happy and remembers you. I mean... I don't mind getting a Pentax (Kroot, experimental Big Unit) or your... ehem... Chaos Baneblade. | |

| Well, a baneblade can't fit on a 40 mm base... or can it Besides, everytime I'm in a secret santa game i overspend... I'm just a generous guy | |

We did something like this on Bloodbowl site but kept it going:
one person listed a few miniatures they had left over. forum users would then nominate the one they wanted. at the end of a week one person was randomly chosen and sent that mini. then the winner would do a list and then do the same thing.
this has been going for ages now and i got a few cool figs. [didn't matter if they were painted or not]
