An update! I've now finished the model, and it's ready for its first coat of paint. Pictures below. I would have had these up sooner, but this week is Holy week in the church, being the direct lead up to easter, so things have been insanely busy. Anyway, enough of that...on to the pictures!
Hopefully, people will like! I've mounted the figure on a square base, and based the model with some plastic crochet board, salvaged from my wife's work space.
As always, comments and constructive criticisms always appreciated...

I noticed the floor! I like it... although the other floor was not bad. Did you cut the space on the base for the model? Seems like it is a little risen. I had to file some of my Prisoner's model down so it looks leveled with the floor.
The model is ACE! Very Tau... someone will be very proud!

I've used it a bit DaBank. Open a new thread and we can discuss it.
Sparrow2z-the model looks good. If you haven't painted yet do you think there is a way you could get the base recessed a bit more into the diorama? Maybe making the base thinner or trimming a hole through the plastic diorama too. Just a suggestion, but it might help to make the scene a bit more continuous once it is finished.

I say this is love, but damn you all. I was perfectly happy with the model, right up until you all started suggesting that I ought to lower the model a bit. Now I can't get it out of my mind and every time I look at the prisoner it looks wrong. The thing is, before you all said anything, I was happy with it. Now, I find myself trying to carve out the floor in order to improve it. Oh, I know it'll look better, but I was happy with it...sigh. I know, I'm just b****ing, because actually once it's done, I'll be even happier with it. But at the moment...thanks for nothing.
Will get pictures up once I'm done. At the moment I can't focus the camera because of the tears.

It is ALL Narcissus fault... he forced me to shave my Prisoner's base too. He is EVIL. We should all try to burn him at the stake!
[low tones] Don't tell Narcissus, but I'm actually glad he made me do it. I was happy with the base of my Prisoner, until he said coerced me into the shaving. Then after the reduction, I was even happier with the model. But don't tell him... NEVER give him the satisfaction. At least not until he sends you 2k of Death Guard! [/low tones]

Hahahaha. Sorry to torment you. It is one of those things I notice with models. I think a diorama with base looks best when you can create the illusion that it is continuous with the area around it. It is tricky to do though. I will definitely have to make sure mine is perfectly flush!

Hey all,
My prisoner is done! I know it's done, because I find myself looking at it and thinking "Damn, why am I sending this away?" I'm genuinely happy with the model. Now I just need to get it in the post...Going to send it a few days early as it's got a way to travel. I wont show you tons of photos, as I want the recipient to be the first to see it, but I will show you one so that you can see!
So yeah! Happy Sparrow. Thanks to those of you who pushed me to get the model flush with the base. In the end, I used a model drill to create a series of holes and then snipped out the spaces between, and then once the floor had given way...you get the idea. Hopefully, it looks good!
I'll be posting it off soon.
Matt
ps - it looks a lot prettier in real life...

Bravo! The worst part of your Prisoner is that now you have raised your own bar!!! HAHAHA! Your painting time will never be the same. Welcome to YOUR next level! The fact you want to keep it means very much to all of us. The Recipient will be proud!
GREAT JOB!

Very cool - that is the first tough tau I think I've ever seen! The wanted poster is ace, but for me the best bit is that RED BUTTON. It is screaming... press me, go on press me, PRESS ME DAMN IT! (you just know you want to), nothing bad will happen, honestly... THIS SHIP WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN T-MINUS 60 seconds... 59... 58...
Bugger
Someone is getting a great Prisoner.

I like it. I really like the muted metal colour of the base. Great job getting the base flush. In my opinion, it greatly adds to the cinematic feel of the base. Great work!

Awesome model, the pose is great, and the poster is a very nice touch.

Well, the model has left the house...post office says it'll take 5 days or so to get there...made sure I got a tracking code, so will follow it all the way! *Sniff* Goodbye my prisoner...I hardly knew you...

I just received it this morning (so three days?), Thank you!
He is really really cool, the conversions are very subtle but give him a load of character and the fine detail you have managed to get on the model and base is amazing, it gives a real sense of atmosphere to the model. What brush did you use for the poster? The free hand is fantastic and the lettering is insanely tiny! Having the base flush really does add to the model and you have got it perfect. He will definitely make his way into my squad, whenever I have a game next, the camouflage colours should help him fit in very well. I don't really have time at the moment, but I will take plenty of pictures this afternoon.
Again thank you for this amazing prisoner,
Kiwi

Thanks for sharing the pictures Kiwi. Any plans for using this model in some games?
Great job on the project Sparrow. Love the nicely recessed base . My favourite bit is probably the wanted sign in the background. It really adds a sense of story and setting to the piece. It is great how well the model fits with the diorama. Any plans for future diorama pieces?

Oh man, am I pleased to hear it got to you kiwi! I'm really glad you like it! It was a pleasure and a joy to work on. Recessed base and all!
And only three days to get to the otherside of the world? Magic.
@narcissus-I would love to do more dioramas...maybe we ought to arrange some sort of DS painting challenge/competition to give us reason to!

I am still not finished my prisoner. But I would definitely like to do one again. It is really nice to work on a one off model and not have to worry about continuing a theme throughout a whole squad or army.

The model reminds me of Bobba Fett (Star Wars). It is a compliment.
