Plodding Along on The Gaming Table, Part I: Updated: 06/05/116

I didn't initially intend to post The State of the Mushrooms Report here. The photos were a response to a request by one of the L.A.F. Guys. HOWEVER, they are proving to be quite popular; SO here they are:

I started on a little Group/Vignette of old Ral Partha Dark Sun minis by Sandy Garrity. I'm kind of in a quandary as to the skin tones. Any suggestions would be welcome.

When in doubt, purple.
My first thoughts were purple...

Thanks mudboy. That's not a bad idea at all; a purple base coat going to a very pale shade of lilac might look cool. I'll experiment with it. Thanks for the feedback.

Well...I've made some unremarkable progress on my Dark Sun Guys. The skin color is established & some of the other colors are falling in place:



While I was at it, I added two new Mushroom Lads with sort-of-legs:





I'm debating giving the Lads some pointy toed Elfin style shoes to add to the Clown Effect.
Your comments & critiques are as always appreciated...for the most part.

Very nice. I love how unique your style is and how you replicate it across different designs. I can't believe how long you have been plugging away at this project!

I think they're pretty sinister also. Funny thing is they were sculpted br Sandy Garrity, who is usually associated with Princesses & Angels...the Girl does a terrific monster.

I love them (I am Lizardmen player and they look kinda lizardish to me, so...) The big guy is great! I can imagine model like this i my Lizzie army

I agree there is something at least vaguely reptilian about the Lads; they're supposed to be a variation on the Gith/Githyanki types....with a limited knowledge of Dark Sun, that's what I understand them to be.

FINALLY some paint has been applied to Maudeheim proper (picture on page #1 here on D.S.). All the natural(?) formations & most of the mushrooms have been completed. AND here's the results of a week or so of paint & profanity:

Wow! That is really cool. I remember seeing them back at the start. The hardest part of them is done now! I always find the basecoating to be a bit tedious and frustrating, especially on a large project. I can't wait to see it all together.

Some rearranging of my living/work area gave me the added space to work on the Beasty; It had been banished to the Yet-To-Be-Completed Gaming Room.
Doing up the groundwork was for the most part a Royal Pain which, fortunately, turned out reasonably well. Hopefully the buildings will be less tedious;re, I can break up the more mind numbing parts with some detail work & some minis to inhabit The Place.

Wow! Impressive indeed! Nice to see paint on that huge mofo!
