| I thought I'd posted this already. This is my latest IG squad. I've already got a catachan and an urban fighters squad, but another one was calling. Some of these minis have been purloined from previous unfinished projects (from which another squad may eventually emerge - I'll have an IG army before too long!) - So, if you recognise any they are from a previous idea! Apologies in advance for the pics (they a black undercoated so much of the detail is lost). I've started to paint them in an autumn camo scheme, based on a German WW2 scheme I saw on warseer (no pics until the first five are finished - hopefully tonight while watching ALIENS as part of my pre-return to school sci-fi movie marathon)... Anyway here are the squad (an Ogryn will follow once the rest are painted)... Recruits... Special Weapons... Officers and Commissar, Vox and Autogun Recruit More Officers and HG... Current Captain... Not sure about the leader (too like my last one) - I need something altogether different - perhaps a shotgun toting captain (I can convert this guy into something else - maybe a meltagunner counts as flamer/heavy weapon bloke). Cheers Laney | |

| As always your modelling is superb! Can't wait to see some paint on 'em. And the pics do suck. | |

| Yeah - sorry about the pics! Anyway here's some clearer pics showing the camo scheme (not quite finished - highlights to do) - note: these models are not finished - so please only tell me what you think about the camo - cheers! The guide third in on the top pic has an empire outriders helmet - there are four empire heads in this squad (can you find the last three in the pics above?) These are the new squad members... The 'old' captain turned into a special weapon guy (possibly an officer - so I don't need to paint a metal model). A shotgun veteran (recruit) - simple conversion using cadian parts, catachan backpack and a scout shotgun. The 'new' captain - got to think up a good name for him - it will need to include a mention of his powerfist and bionic (I thought I'd add the bionics early this time!). The captain parts list - he uses basic cadian and command squad bits with grey knight grenades and inquisitorial symbol, scout bolt pistol and grenades, catachan backpack and three cadian right arms - inc two power fists - I needed the thumb off one to make him point and greenstuff. I have a couple more conversions in mind, but I really should get some of these models painted. The pics still aren't great - but my camera is dying and I can't afford a new one for a month or two! | Love the camo. Reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 3, even though it's different. For some reason your camo looks right, but when I do it looks messy. Different painting styles I guess (my straight colors always look good). You seem to have a ton of crouching legs, too. I want more of those. | |

| Thanks Arachas - the crouching legs come from an obsession with command squad sets and a hatred of the regular catachan boxes (I could have an IG army if I just bought the regular sets) and heavy weapons. If it helps - my camo technique is... pick the colours. basecoat in a good camo colour - charadon granite is a pretty good neutral base for most scheme. the key stage (I think)... apply the camo colours (two or three) one after another, fairly evenly spreading them over the area - being careful to not obscure armour and keep the cloth distinct. I spread the first coat on (in this case solar orange) in random splodges, then used khemri brown (for contrast) to overlap with and extend the splodges, then calthan brown (it is a more orangey brown) in the same way. then add dots of a totally different colour (chaos black). finally I added small bits of catachan green in any gaps and wash the whole thing with devlan mud. | Again a sweet looking bunch! That camo is indeed looking very nice! Like Arachas said, very MGS! How about "Full Metal" Jack(et) Roberts as a name of your captain? (or another last name, it's all about the combination of a nickname his first name)

| Ok - I'll photograph the steps on my next round of painting and try to create a tutorial - but honestly I just put on splodges of paint to create the camo. Following (or at least approximating) an existing camo scheme is not a bad place to start. While I'm aware of Metal Gear Solid - I've no idea what the people in it look like - so I'm assuming the reference is a good thing! (quickly heads off to find out) I like the name 'Full Metal' Jack - I may borrow it, but I was considering something involving 'Tinman' - anyway more on the fluff later - more models to make that I probably won't use in the final squad! | Hi All, I have the first four finished models of the 41st to show you... The bases need some moss but they are done apart from that. From left to right: Sergeant 'Zulu' Rorke, Private 'Seven' Blake, Private 'Tiger' Kelly, Medic/Private 'Godfrey' Hart A close up on the Sergeant and Private Blake... And something totally different, but cool - an image I found on teh web of different lasgun types... Criticism welcome as always! Cheers Laney | |

| CRITICISMS?!?!? How the hell you expect any of us criticize free hand British flags?!?! Man... those are great models. Question... are they fully based yet? I like the dirt (justifies camo) but seems a little plain... specially for your style. Can We get a close up of the other two? I particularly like Medic/Private 'Godfrey' Hart! I can't fathom how you envision and do all this stuff. Thanks for sharing and feed my insecurities... hehehe. | |

| Thanks Mord! I've been trying to get a close up of the other two - but my camera is not playing ball at the minute - I'll see what I can come up with. On the base - I plan on having some low grass/moss to keep with autumnal forest scheme - but that's it. Cheers Laney | |

| Some more WIP pics - the pink hue on the photos is due to the continuing terminal state of my camera (next month it goes!) Added 'moss' to the bases - better Mord? Another finished model: Lance Corporal 'Punishment' Jones A close up of 'Seven' Blake (obscure sci-fi reference) and Medic 'Godfrey' (obscure britsh comedy reference) - sorry about the blur! A couple of WIP shots of the other ten members of the squad (with an Ogryn and a few other bods to come - might make squad four if I get bored) Left to Right: Capt 'Tinman' (more to add to his name), 'Posh' Barrington-Siddley, Lance Corporal 'JBS' Haldane, 'Big Bang' Olufsen, Sergeant 'Scavvy' Baldrick Hope you can see enough through the pink! Enjoy Laney | |

| Awesome looking models Laney! The only critic I can think of is that the flags on the shoulderpads look a bit too "bright" compared with the rest of the models. Perhaps you can dull those a bit down. | |

Captain Gould 'Tinman' Armstrong HWS Private 'Big Bang' Olufsen The finished models so far (almost half way!, but I do have five more on the side) The WIP models so far (almost done!)... Gatlag: I dulled the flags with a little devaln mud - much better Cheers Laney

| Great models! When looking at the last pics I indeed noticed that the flags were a bit duller. Much better imho! Sweet looking squad. I envy you for your speed in painting, I'm way too slow. I have ideas enough but tend to never get them done due to my lack of speed... | |

I am the opposite I can speed paint at a very basic level... Mord and Laney are trying to get me to slow down and do the detail rather then table top standards. Not sure if its paying off.... Another fantastic squad Laney ...... LGW

| I really like these strongly themed squads, even though I'm confused by the british flag - but I find them amazing, and are inspired by your sense of detail.
I'm also inspired to go that road myself - the strongly themed squad. Right now I'm waiting for some german ork heads to get in stock at Kromlech minitures... It's so hard to wait.
Keep painting and showing! I've never painted and build so much since I found this forum. This is great - and you are great in so many aspects.
Thank you for inspiring me Laney =)

| Thanks Guys! Always nice to have positive feedback. I'm trying to batch/speed (what I call speed anyway!) paint these to get a finished squad quickly. The British Flags aren't as random or unfluffy as you might think - I wanted a complex symbol that was easy to recognise and replicate and I remembered reading in the Commissar Cain novels about the Britannicus Cluster, which is where the No Ones Own come from - so it fits (kind of). I'm going for a tau squad after this one! Cheers Laney | |

| How do you make them not to OOZE awesome? HA! Seriously... how do you do all the bionics? They look amazing! I really like that some of them have 'body paint'... wow! How you do that? How did you paint the FLAG?!?!? So many questions!
... and where is the camo tutorial? You think I forgot?!?! HA! You wished!

| Thanks as always for the great comments - helps to keep me motivated... The bionics on these guys are actually pretty simple (no legs in this squad, maybe in the next one)...Captain Gould 'Tinman' Armstrong (got some ace fluff cooking for him!)His left bionic is straight out of the cadian command squad boxset - I just swapped the power sword for a bolt pistol. The pointing power fist on his right arm was trickier. I shaved away the arm underneath the shoulder pad of a straight cadian arm - so that with a little GS it would be outstretched. I cut off the power fist from another arm and did a 'dry fit' (this was difficult). Then I removed the index finger of the power fist and replaced it with the thumb of a spare I had in my bitz box to make him point - job done. Lance Corporal 'Punishment' JonesHis bionic is the same as the Captains but reversed - I took a catachan right arm and cut it to fit with the left bionic I had removed from the cadian command power sword arm. The bionic hand is actually a skeletons hand which fits well with the size and style of the bionic. Add some GS, swearing we it wouldn't fit for the tenth time and it was finished! The Britannicus Flags... RecipeEnchanted blue rectangle Skull white horizontal and vertical lines, followed by the diagonal lines (used the thicker part of the a fine detail brush for this) Blood red horizontal and vertical lines (fine detail brush tip) - keeping inside the white areas. Diagonal lines of blood done in the same way as above, but try not to connect them to the centre. Edge the whole thing with a black 0.1 fineliner. Wash with Devlan mud - thanks for this bit Gatlag! Body paint...Flesh - tallarn basecoat, washed with ogryn flesh and a little devlan mud (keeping it simple). Body paint - (very) watered down catachan green washed over the flesh areas, followed by charadon granite stripes across the skin. Make sure it is very watered down and apply more coats if needed. Simple Camo tutorial coming soon! Laney | |

| A few more pics (apologies again for the 'pink')... The squad so far (more than half way! yeah!) Sergeant 'Scavvy' Baldrick (back only sorry) Lance Corporal 'JBS' Haldane Private 'Bombardier' Fuggles The big smears are the digital camera messing up the shot - but they are the best it will do today! I will steal my wifes camera for the final squad shots to go with their fluff! Laney | |
