| Those missiles coming out of the guns are pretty cool. Why didn't you want big bases? I would have thought you would enjoy the diorama potential with the larger base.
Thanks for the backpack pictures too. I agree on bags. As well as making the cadian models look more balanced it makes more sense for them to carry stuff with them. I've been using them as a place to add additional weapons so they will fit WYSIWYG with a few different load outs.

| I liked the idea of the fighters being on their own bases - I'll magnetise them to big bases eventually. Here's a few conversions I've been working on... The 'Sten' Pattern Hellgun... Beret wearing stormtroopers (I need to buy some more cadian/catachan legs) One of the great shotguns from maxmini... Cheers Laney:D | |

| Thanks Mord!
The white resin parts (beret heads, combat armour bodies, shotgun) are from Maxmini http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php - not cheap, but a nice variation for carapace armour and a pretty good fit with Generic sci-fi troopers of the future parts.
My only concern is they sent some of the wrong bits! It worked out for the best though, instead of sniper rifles I couldn't really use I got an extra set of beret heads, ANZAC style heads, a set of cool backpacks (saves greenstuff) and a cool minigun (no idea how to use that yet). I'll post pics of these when I use them.

| Wow.. The shotgun looks great, but the hellguns are amazing The models look like 2nd world war british special troops, but still makes then fitting for future / sci-fi style. Edit: How did you make the weapon on the second guy ? (then one with legs) What parts did you use ? -Skavenslayer | |

| Thanks - WW2 Commandos is the look I'm after (I'd like those commando style soft hats as well - but maxmini don't do any - Does anyone know of a company that does these - preferably in resin?).
The sten gun on the second guy is a catachan lasgun cut down, the main barrel is a missile from a heavy weapon team cut and restuck to make the main barrel and the silencer. The ammo feed is from the catachan lasgun, with a plasticard extended clip.

| A few more shotgun veterans... The finished Hellgun: Sten Pattern, Veteran Sergeant Daniel P. Dare: I've gone for some OSL (semi-successful) on the hellgun. Cheers Laney:D | |

| Now that you have a reputation to uphold, let's get critical... No seriously, AWESOME conversions once again. That paintjob is not one of your best, though. The camo is cool and although 'loose' is your style (I can't paint camo for the life of me, it HAS to be tight colors for me) I feel this guardsman is a little too loose. Maybe it's the combination of the camo on the uniform and the camo stripes on the arms: the arm-camo is a whole different pattern. A bit too much, I feel. And although I love OSL... I dunno. Keep it a Sten Gun, I'd say. There... constructive criticism on Laney's work. It's possible! | |

| The freaking British Flag STILL blows me away! Before they looked good... now they look like decals (YES... THAT GOOD!)
The OSL is fantastic... technique wise, flawless (IMHO). The proble I have is that the weapon is 'unknown' to me, so the light source seems out of place (or at least demands LOTS of attention.) It is a wonderful piece, but I would not try that OSL with that weapon. I do love how the light bounces on the hand!
The stripe camo seems to contrast with the uniform (as Arachas mention) but I can live with it! HA!
The most impressive (to ME) is the lettering... I find that so hard to do and you (and DeafNala) make it look so easy!
THANKS FOR SHARING! | |

| Thanks guys - this is useful feedback! Arachas - thanks for pointing out what I couldn't get with this model (something wasn't right but I couldn't work out what). I might keep the skin camo for now and change it on other models. With the OSL, I'll keep it but think about how I can tone it down (this will annoy my wife who thinks my models are all too dark!). The biggest issue for me is the overuse of the main camo (I need a contrast). More soon! Cheers Laney | |

That's my main problem with camo: you layer on paint until your models looks nice and crisp. Then the dark blotches of camo ruin it (at least, when I try it). Most of models are too dark, too. Currently trying a white/grey/shadowgrey camoscheme on my Urban Fighters, with the armor in a solid color. Will post those later.

| WOW!! You almost can read the freaking book! AMAZING! It IS perfect... but I will still challenge you. Feel free to send me to The Warp (or Hell... whatever is worst!) Could you draw the logo on the book? How awesome would THAT be? My only suggestion is on photography. I got a simple fix for you... white paper! Just take a regular white sheet of paper and use it as a background. Something like... I just use a white paper which I curve up against something, but colored papers work as well. The paper reflects light into shadows and reduces shadow drops. I often lit my figure from top left and make sure there's lots of ambient light (reflected light coming from all directions). This to reduce sharp shadows. This is 'free' and takes 15 seconds to do... it will improve your pics by 300%!!!! I found an AWESOME article... http://androidarts.com/stargladius/photo_tips.htm I don't think this guy spent more than $2 on his setup and the pictures are really nice (he is an artist, model designer, gamer, etc.) I know... I'm annoying with the pic thing. But your models are so awesome that it seems like I'm getting half of the goodies! | |

| These guys are amazing! Congratulations on an AWESOME Squad! Each model is VERY unique. BRAVO! The picture is a LOT better. For a large amount of models (or one wide model) you may need two light sources. They should be located in the top-front corners, illuminating diagonally to the OPPOSITE corner. That means that the light on the top-front RIGHT illuminates towards the low-back LEFT corner. The effect is that one light will produce shadows on the models CLOSE to it, but the other light will vanish them.... so you get no shadows at all. Try that... - Mordheimer wrote:

What? No answer to my challenge? Heheheh..

| I'll accept both challenges! (light source and death squads symbol) - maybe for this one or another miniature. In a vague attempt to actually finish something I'm trying to only tweak models when they absolutely need it. So, Officer of the Fleet, Priest and Medic are to be finished next - with the Mordian style rocket launcher next (another OSL trial) - plus Part 2 of the Allansian introduction soon. Cheers Laney | |

| Well I've failed miserably on photo quality (my camera hates me!) - here are some older paint jobs - nothing done to them except a red rim on the base and replaced the snow with grass - I've coated them in matt varnish since these photos. Psyker Overseer and two sanctioned psykers (I have enough for a full battle psyker squad) Also a WIP of my Command Squad Priest: Reverend Gunn... Cheers Laney | |

| Too bad about the photo quality. I have the same problem sometimes: you just want to take some cool pics to show your minis and then that freakin' camera won't cooperate! The models look ace though! Hope that helps. | |

| Very small update - I've matt varnished the psykers and the enforcer - they look fairly reasonable now... Ta Laney | |
