| Thanks as always - just six more infantry, a special forces - special project (afriel strain) and a commissar to go!
LGW: The blue is not too complex...
Basecoat: Enchanted blue Next: Hawk Turquoise over half to a third (more towards the 'top' - which may vary depending on what surface - outer might be a better way of putting it) Next: Ice Blue (around half the previous again) Next: Space wolves grey (highlight only) Finally Skull white on the very edges

| LGW: You gotta try the Power-Sword Tutorial Laney made some time ago (LINK) Follow the recipe he gave. Seems complicated... until you do it. Laney has a knack of making the "complicated" becoming "stupidly simple". Perfect for people like us (you and me) that need some help painting. It shows that Laney is a Teacher! | |

| Thanks Arachas! Always nice to be appreciated - I will get that camo tutorial done at some point! No more pics - but I have converted an Afriel Strain Trooper to be a counts as Kasrkin HG (pics to follow - battery has died on my camera). I've got a starting squad list sorted so here goes... Cadians 747 spent 3 credits spare. Officers... 1. Captain Gould ‘Tinman’ Armstrong 55 (Carapace, Helmet, Autogun) 56 2. Lieutenant ‘Blind’ Syght 42 (Autogun) 22 3. Lieutenant ‘Curious' George 42 (Autogun) 22 4. Sergeant ‘Scavvy’ Baldrick 36 (Autogun) 22 5. Sergeant ‘Zulu’ Rorke 36 (Autogun) 22 Hired Guns... (this fits the fluff for these guys) 6. Commissar Edmund Cimmerian ‘The Black Viper’ HG 43 7. Kasrkin Veteran Sergeant Afriel Strain: Gamma VI HG 39 Recruits... 8. Lance Corporal ‘Punishment’ Jones 25 (Autogun) 22 9. Lance Corporal ‘JBS’ Haldane 25 (Autogun) 22 10. Private ‘Posh’ Barrington-Siddley 25 (Autogun) 22 11. Private ‘Big Bang’ Olufsen 36 (HWS – Grenade Launcher, Frag Grenade) 23 12. Private ‘Flash’ Burns 36 (HWS – Flamer) 27 13. Private ‘Godfrey’ Hart 32 (MEDIC - Autopistol) 15 Cheers Laney | |

| I snigger'd a little when I saw "Private ‘Big Bang’ Olufsen"...

Like the list. Think I may have to revise my own, seeing there are more choices in the "hired guns" appartment =) | |

| On the HG - they might not be economic long term, but they are powerful from the off, comparatively cheap (if you ignore upkeep for a second) and for me increase the chance of winning the game, because of the added punch. Plus, they fit my squads fluff perfectly. Laney | |

| I've never looked into the HG's, maybe I should. The commissar is hard to pass up. No CC weapons on the officers? And I noticed you included a grenade launcher. How do you feel it performs these days? | |

| The no CC weapons is because these are definitely a shooting squad (plus I wanted bodies) - 13 is a good squad size to start. Hopefully the carapace will help to keep him alive long enough to go for a power weapon bolt pistol combination. The HGs give my squad the initial punch the rest is just bodies waiting for more credits and skills. The grenade launcher is a kind of economic cheat. It comes with (unless I missed a rule change) a frag grenade (usually 8 credits). So if I use it once (or not) and then sell it back at half the price it was a 'free' heavy weapon for a game and he can go and get a heavy stubber. It gives me a little more tactical flexibility - though I should probably just go for another autogun. Cheers Laney | |

| Thanks - I've finished him since I posted that pic. Orange and blue are my theme colours for this squad along with the autumnal camo (orangey again). I'm quite pleased by the overall look - but starting to get bored of painting them now (maybe it's time for a new squad - something wintry perhaps?) Progress... 15 painted complete 5 WIP (pretty close - ETA Monday) 6 mixed models not even basecoated. Laney | |

| Cody: You've not got any pictures of that scheme you mentioned have you? Thanks as always - I do think 'Flash' has got a little too much orange on his right side (makes it a little unbalanced). On the orange - it's a lazy way to get a decent result for HOT... Black undercoat (white if you want brighter - I hardly ever use white) Blood Red base coat Blazing orange - leaving red in the recesses Golden yellow towards the hotter centre areas on the tank Skull white in the middle of these areas I tend to do the orange to white stage quickly so that the previous step is just a little wet - it seems to help it blend together better. Slightly thinned coats are best (though not too much with the white - you don't want that to flow too far). Cheers Laney | |

| Were you blessed at birth? You'r painting skills top the scales the sniper looks awsome and the fading of orange and yellow on the banner is sweet, I want more!
Would love to see you do an eldar squad not neccisarily to play but to paint as they are one of the strangest models to paint.

| Oooooh, Laney, lots of nice updates. I have been eyeing up a heavy bolter from a chaos space marine and wondering if I can feasibly attach it without making a guardsman look ridiculous. Now I know I can do it without ruining the arms. Thanks!
The renegades are a nice tease. They are some of my very favorite models. Those a death korps of krieg are tops in my opinion. Any way you can change the lower arm on the standard bearer to make it look less like he once held a pole?
I like how most of your guard have backpacks. I like using bags to bulk up the models a little too. I think it adds a lot.
Nice work. Looking forward to seeing more.
